Hi I'm Nate

I have 5 awesome brothers. I LOVE music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm what some may call a "jack of all trades, master of none". On any given day you can find me attempting to ski down a new rail at Park City, baking cookies with mom's help, and trying to learn a new Rachmaninoff Prelude on the piano. I've studied at BYU for one semester - my favorite classes were flexibility, water aerobics, and Multivariable Calculus. I make the silliest jokes and laugh at my own dry sense of humor. I love my family, I have no idea what I want to do for a career...but I CANNOT sit at a desk all day.

Why I am a Mormon

My family has been members of the church for ages. If you know anything about Mormon history, I'm descended from Levi Savage, Willard Richards, Lot Smith. They had big beards and pushed handcarts. When I was a young kid I got nightmares pretty often. My dad taught me to pray and that God could help take them away. I prayed, and He did. I knew He was there. I was baptized at the age of 8 and have been an active member of the church ever since. However, it wasn't until I left home that I truly gained my own solid conviction that The Book of Mormon is True, that Joseph Smith was and Thomas S. Monson is a prophet, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is truly the Lord's church on earth today. Since I've begun studying the Book of Mormon I've repeatedly had my prayer answered. And now I KNOW all those things are true. I feel a great desire and responsibility to share my testimony with others. "And now my brethren I wish from the inmost part of my heart that ye...would not procrastinate the day of your repentance until the end." (Alma 13:27) The Gospel of Jesus Christ has changed my life. Everything good in my life has been made more sweet, and through the sacrifice that Christ paid for me (AND YOU!) I'm overcoming my weaknesses. True change comes through our Savior. I know that to be true.

How I live my faith

I have served in several ways in my life..both formally and informally. My service in the church has varied from being a member of a community youth council to being in charge of gathering hymn books and turning the lights off at church! I've also tried to be an example of Jesus Christ to those I meet and help them feel His love through me. I know how it makes me feel to be on the receiving end of a compliment, encouraging word, or just a smile...and I try to watch for opportunites to be the giver. One of my favorite opportunites I've had in church is to serve as a Home Teacher. As a Home Teacher you visit families and help them with their spiritual and physical needs. My dad and I have had awesome experiences as we served together. I remember one old man we visited who could hardly walk but still made beautiful sculptures. His example inspired me, and I like to think we were able to help him as well.

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

We believe that Baptism is a symbol of a sacred promise we make with God that we will follow His commandments, serve others, and become followers of Jesus Christ. We must be baptized, following the example of Jesus Christ, to return to God. Baptism must be performed by somebody holding the Priesthood authority - the power of God given to man. After we are baptized by water, we are given the Gift of the Holy Ghost by the same Priesthood authority and we have the Holy Ghost to be with us always as we continue faithful in our promise to God.
