Hi I'm Nick

I grew up in Colorado. I love to sing a cappella music and swing dance. I program Computers. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Currently I live in Seattle doing Software Development. For high school I attended a school called Denver School of the Arts; a magnet school for artistic oriented kids. While there I majored in Vocal Music, and Orchestra (trombone), as well as minored in Jazz Band (trombone). On top of these art forms I also love to dance, my favorites being Swing and Blues Dancing. However, I am a geek at heart. I love anything having to do with computers. Also, I have had the opportunity to serve a mission in the Marshall Islands, while there I learned the Marshallese language and culture.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a Mormon. My parents always telling me what to believe. However, as all teenagers seam to do, I stopped caring about my parents opinions. That is when I saw a fork in the road. I could either go down one path and follow what my friends are doing, or I could go down the other and follow what my parents wanted. My parents claimed that that particular road was paved by God. If they were right I would be ruining my life by following my friends, but if they were wrong I would be living a lie, and wasting my life doing pointless things. I decided that I had to know for myself. That is when I decided to pray, a lot, to find an answer. That answer came and told me that I needed to follow the path my parents claimed, I needed to stay in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Everyday, as I study the Book of Mormon, that feeling gets stronger. I know that this is the true church of Jesus Christ. And because of His church, He has changed me into an individual in a way I wouldn't be able to do myself.

How I live my faith

I have the opportunity to teach others about the Gospel. On Sundays, we have Sunday school, and as a teacher I get to help others learn about the Gospel. I help them come unto Christ. However, although I am the teacher, it is amazing at how much I learn from those I teach.

What is being a Mormon like?

A lot of people think that being Mormon means having to follow a lot of rules. Well its true, but its not quite as "limiting" as people would expect. There is a joy that comes from following the commandments. Not only does rule keeping increase your integrity, but it provides a freedom. For me I don't see limits, I see possibilities. It all about our search for happiness and what determines true happiness. I love being Mormon and have found a lot of Joy from it. We have social groups, activities, and all sorts of projects to keep your social life exciting; if that is what your into. A lot of people recognize Mormons for there integrity. I have found that being Mormon means being respected. Show more Show less
