Hi I'm Howard

I am a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have been a members since the early 1980's.

About Me

I was born in Ohio. My family moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where I grew up. I attended college at Arizona State University and I received a BS degree in chemistry. After college I moved to Colorado to attend graduate school at Colorado State University, where I earned a PhD in chemistry. I decided to stay in Colorado and accepted a position with American Metals Climax (a mining company). After 2 years, I started my own consulting/laboratory service business, which I operated for 5 years. I joined the U.S. Department of Interior-Geological Survey, where I have worked for the past 35 years. I am married to a wonderful woman who was raised in the church. We have seven children and 22 grandchildren. I was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints while working at AMAX. After taking the missionary lessons several years later, I joined the church in the early 1980’s

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church of Jesus Christ. I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed about its authenticity. I know that it is a true book translated with the divine assistance of our Heavenly Father by Joseph Smith, a true prophet of God. I have read it, multiple times and each time I feel its calming, powerful influence on my life. I love it! I have a testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel and the importance in directing my life. I am a Mormon because I know that through the teachings of the church that my family can be together forever. I love the temple, because of it, and Priesthood power I can live with them forever.

How I live my faith

I try to live a life of service. i believe that people are basically good and want to do what's right. I kmow that service to others brings blessings to me and my family. I try to keep the commandments and the counsel offered by our living prophet, which I know comes from our Heavenly Father. I live by a divine health code the we call the "Word of Wisdom". I try to treat others as I want to be treated. I believe that having a good work ethic is not only a great trait to possess today but a trait that we will have beyond this life. My hope is that people will know that I am Mormon by the way that I live my daily life.
