Hi I'm Murray

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of 3 boys, ages 24, 23 and 18. My wife and I have need married 29 years. We met at Brigham Young University in 1984 and were married in the Washington D.C. Temple in 1985. I was a missionary for the LDS church in Australia during the early 80's and my wife was a missionary in The Netherlands.  I am a elementary music teacher, entering my 28th year of teaching in the public schools. I teach in a K-8 elementary school, teaching kindergarten through 6th grade general music and 6th grade beginning band. Though currently a teacher I have worked as a dishwasher, hay bale bucker, greenskeeper, World Book Encyclopedia salesman and even did a stint as a Pizza Hut delivery driver. I'm also active in The Boy Scouts of America. I have served in the Boy Scouts and Cubmaster, Scout Master, Varsity Coach, Explorer Leader, Charter Rep. and Committee Member. I love working with young men and boys as they become adults. I've spent, I think, 15+ summers at Scout Camp as a troop leader or parent. My hobbies include, woodworking, messing around with boats, cooking and reading Sci Fi. Currently I'm building a skin on frame Greenland kayak.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all my life. Growing up in a mormon household. I feel that I have always believed in Jesus Christ as my savior and the Mormon church as the church of Jesus Christ. When I was 19 I finally decided to read the Book of Mormon, I would read it everyday during my lunch hour. The problems I was having in my life, and the questions I had about life were answered in each days reading. Through the feelings of the Spirit I gained a testimony of the Book of Mormon as the word of God. Soon after I left to serve a 2 year mission for the church in Australia. My experiences there strengthened my testimony of the Jesus Christ, the church and the Book of Mormon. I have strived to live the priciples of the Gospel all my life and have found great peace and comfort in those principles. Continuing to learn about the Savior the Gospel and service in the church has strengthened my testimony that Jesus Christ really in my Savior and Redeemer and he loves me.

How I live my faith

Most of my adult life I have been involved with the young men and boys of the congregation or ward through the scouting program. I have also served as a nursury leader for children 18 months to 2 years of age. I've served as a councilor to 3 bishops and I am currently serving in a calling with the stake where I live. My sons and I are also known as the ward movers as we've helped nearly everyone move into or out of our ward. With 3 strong teenage sons what else should we do but help people. I try to live my faith by doing service for others. Our Savoir, Jesus Christ, did service for others and as I follow Him I can do no less than he did by helping those in need. I truly believe that we will be held accountable for our service to others. I try to serve those in need through my teaching, scouting and service in the church.
