Hi I'm Steve Lelle

I grew up in Florida and enjoy fishing and cooking. I enjoy conversing with people about various topics and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised as a "Navy Brat" and moved around until we settled in Titusville Florida in 1965 at the start of the space program to go to the moon. I saw a lot history being made from not just the space program, but witnessing the Civil Rights Movement, the assignations of Dr. Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy. I saw Woodstock (via television) and saw the Anti-War protests taking place, even as my brother was stationed there at the time. In 1974 I joined the Navy and began to see the world. I learned electronics, visited eight countries of which I have no doubt America is the most blessed country to reside in. I met my wife (she was a stand-in for a blind date) in 1976 and we were married on March 26, 1977. We decided to attend the local church just down our street, as it was the most convenient. Our first son was born in 1980 and our twin sons were born in 1982. Yes, we had three children in diapers at one time! Working as an avionics technician at Peachtree-Dekalb Airport, I attended my first BBQ Cook-off in May of 1984. In May of 1988 I started Spiced Right BBQ. Spiced Right soon developed a very good reputation and was recognized by several publications as the "Best" BBQ in Gwinnett County, Atlanta Georgia and as one of the 50 Best BBQ Restaurants listed in the Southern Farmers Almanac. Though no longer in the restaurant business I still enjoy cooking, grilling and barbecuing. .

Why I am a Mormon

I was brought up in another church and was quite Spiritual as a youth. I spent several years being inactive in any church until I joined the local church just down the road, it was the most convenient. Needless to say I was left somewhat short when it came to a testimony of Jesus Christ. I was introduced to The Restored Gospel by my wife's best friend. I just knew that this was the church that I believed to be the church led by Christ Himself. The Spirit of the Lord we experienced was unlike any other feeling I have ever experienced! We took the lessons taught by the missionaries and our hearts were filled with the Spirit and we knew in our hearts that we were being taught the True Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. True, I had fallen by the wayside and stayed that way for far too long. I was living life, but not enjoying it as I should have been. In March of 2011 I was reintroduced to the Church in a very Spiritual way. The cheesy part is that it took a serious medical issue to make me think about things. Just two weeks before the incident I was introduced to a very Spiritual person who challenged me to write down a list of questions, pray for an answer and to watch the upcoming Church Conference. He expressed that without fail, all of my questions would be answered by the speakers during the sessions. Well, not only were ALL of my questions answered, but when I began to doubt I had another question that would have shot the challenge down. It seems that less than 5 minutes after the thought entered my head, the Prophet made a statement that directly answered and it felt that he was speaking directly to me! There have been many more situations occur which have only served to strengthen my testimony. I am now feeling the Spirit of our Lord as I wish I had been for so long in my life.

How I live my faith

As I practice my Faith I grow in Spirit. I did not "quit" alcohol, or using profanity or many of the other activities in life that today's society so readily accepts. Instead, those actions became undesirable, quite naturally. I didn't even realize I stopped using profanity until I was exposed to it and this time it made me feel most uncomfortable. I choose to avoid things which tend to weaken my testimony and seek out that which is right by the Lord. Daily Scripture study, daily prayer are a sure way to help me stay on the the "straight and narrow path". Ask me about holding-fast to the Iron Rod and what can, and usually does happen when you don't.
