Hi I'm Aaron

I am from Arizona. I am the oldest of nine children. I love sports. I want to be a doctor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Aaron Higgins. I am 27 years old. I love playing sports. I even play fantasy sports. I enjoy movies. I love being outdoors. I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the teachings of the church have brought happiness and peace to my life. I was raised in the Mormon faith as a child and I took the teachings for granted. I didn't realize how happy the teachings of the church made me because I had nothing to contrast the teachings with. I didn't know what it was like to not live the teachings of the church. When I was 18 I began to question my faith and I decided that I didn't want to live the teachings that I learned my whole life anymore. For a period of one year I abandoned my faith and I decided to see what else the world had to offer. During that year I experienced the most depressing times of my life. I was not happy and I felt lost. I just didn't feel like there was a purpose behind my actions. There was nothing to strive for beyond fleeting moments of happiness. One night I decided to read from the Book of Mormon and as I read I found a passage of scripture that truly impacted me. It talked about a man who had rebelled against the church and in a moment of remorse, he repented of his wrong doings and changed his life. He told his son of his experience and said, "there could be nothing so exquisite and so bitter as were my pains. Yea, and again I say unto you, my son, that on the other hand, there can be nothing so exquisite and sweet as was my joy[after repenting]." This man experienced a rebirth. He found happiness and joy again as he repented of his sins and came unto Christ. I decided that I wanted the joy that he spoke of. I prayed to know what God wanted me to do. I felt that I should repent of my wrong doings and begin to live the teachings of the church once again. Once I had done that I began to find happiness and joy as the man in the Book of Mormon found. I am excited for each day because God has a plan for me. I share this experience because I know that He also has a plan for every one of His children on this earth. He loves each of us. His gospel, centered around His son, proves this!

How I live my faith

My faith is something that is very important to me. It is what gives my life meaning and purpose. I often find that in the quiet moments when there is nothing to distract me I am able to feel peace and happiness because of the things that I believe. Knowing that there is a God, a Father of us all, that has a plan for each of us gives me motivation to be a better person and act on the faith that I have. Every Sunday I got to church to remind myself of the things that matter most. I also serve in the church as a home teacher which affords me the opportunity to visit other members of the church each month and share an uplifting message while seeing if they need my help with anything. I also play the piano, share messages with others and clean the church building. I do these things to serve others as our Savior did. I know that our faith increases through action. The church gives me many opportunities to act on my beliefs and opportunities have allowed me to grow and become a happier person.
