Do you want to chat with a missionary?

We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hi I'm Dean

I love music, friends, and the outdoors. I'm an Auburn fan, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music and playing music, as well as fishing, hunting, surfing, and playing sports with buds. I am a huge college football fan, and I love the Auburn Tigers. I'm currently preparing to serve my mission in Costa Rica, and I'm super excited!

Why I am a Mormon

I won't lie, I'm a Mormon because I was raised this way. But I have seen the influence of the gospel in my life numerous times. I have seen the blessings of missionary work, tithing, and service. I love the temple, and I know we can achieve true happiness in this life through Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I'm Secretary in my branch's Elder's Quorum. I'm planning to serve a mission, and I always strive to be a friend and help to those that need me, Mormon or not.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Dean
Baptism is a monumental step in showing your love and faith in our savior Jesus Christ. People may say why do we have to do it? The scriptures show that baptism has been practiced for centuries. Baptism is a necessary ordinance that all must undertake to receive the guidance of the Holy Ghost, as well as further blessings from full membership and participation. Baptism is also an outward, physical expression of your love and faith. It shows that you are willing to DO something. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Dean
First of all, Mormons are NOT fuddy-duddies. I live in the South, where most everyone is not Mormon. And sometimes we get the stereotype that we are boring or do not know how to have fun. This is not so! Some of the most fun I've ever had has been with my LDS friends. True, us Mormons do not participate in some things that we consider inappropriate (drinking, drug use, viewing inappropriate material, etc.), and we have gotten a somewhat dull reputation for that. But I'd rather have a reputation for not doing popular things than compromise my self image and safety for the sake of acceptance. Show more Show less

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Dean
Yes. He did, and I believe that with all my heart. The messages found in the account of the saviors visit to the American continent are some of the most powerful and moving of all scripture. If you are skeptical, read the Third Nephi and pray to know that it is true. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Dean
Is it fair that those who, could not hear the gospel in this lifetime should suffer with guilt that they did not believe? No. The plan of salvation is for all of Heavenly Father's children, and Baptism by proxy for the dead is a necessary institution to help our brothers and sisters who did not have the opportunity to make a choice in this lifetime. Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Dean
Jesus Christ is our shepherd, as stated in the standard works. It is His job to bring us back to the fold, back to our Heavenly Father. If we would but follow Him. At times, he will carry us when we can walk no farther. And at times we might resist and run off, but He will always come looking for us. Jesus Christ makes up for our faults. He personally knows what we struggle with. And he wants to be there with us at the Judgement as an advocate to say, "Hey, look I know they he/she tough times, and they're not perfect. But I am perfect, and they are willing to listen to me, and love me, even as I have loved them. I will make him/her perfect." And he does. Show more Show less
