Hi I'm Rebecca Carter

I'm a student studying to become a patent attorney. I write, I draw, I read voraciously. I love the zoo. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Washington, though I'm currently going to school in Idaho. I'm studying chemistry, and hope to become a patent attorney in the biochemistry field. I have two brothers, a sister, and a dog, and I love to read, write, and listen (or sing) to music. I really, really love music. It just... speaks to the soul. It's like the artist understands me, and can say exactly what I want to say in words more beautiful than I could come up with. I play the piano and am learning to play the guitar, but I'm not very good at it yet. I love animals as well, and I suppose that's basically who I am. Animals, music, books, learning.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have questioned everything regarding whether or not it is true, and I have received answer that it is. It would be hard for me if it relied on blind faith without any way to ask and to know, but there is a Heavenly Father that talks to us and answers our prayers, and prophets on the earth that talk with him and answer questions and give direction for the entirety of the earth. We're not here to follow dumbly - you can't have a true testimony if someone else gave it to you, if you just believe everything else someone said. It's all about asking for yourself and finding the answer, for yourself. My answer told me that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is God's true church among the people today, a church where He ministers to earth through his servants, the prophets. I know the Book of Mormon is a true book from God, that he gave it to us to be a second testimony along with the Bible. I know Jesus is my Christ, and I know that Joseph Smith did not start this church, but merely brought it, through the Lord's direction, to modern days. It is my beacon and my rock in this tumultuous world. I wouldn't have it any other way.

How I live my faith

In my ward, I am a teacher for children ages 5-6, and let me tell you, they can be a handful! But it's so rewarding when you see them understand something, and their willingness to learn is beautiful. They're goofy, and silly, and just plain old happy. I love it, and I feel like it's a privilege that I was asked to help teach them things like "I Have Talents" and "I Will Tell the Truth."
