Hi I'm Jacob

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a consultant for the telecom industry and work out of my home. I enjoy working from home because it allows me to spend time with my family. I am also leader in my church and am responsible for the welfare of nearly 100 other families in my same age range. I enjoy serving in the church because it helps me make meaningful friendships, develop leadership skills, and emmulate Christ-like attributes.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a 5th generation mormon and grew up active in the church. My parents were leaders of our local congregation, or Ward, in rural Virginia. At that time the surrounding area had nearly 200 other protestant congregations. And, so as a youth I had many opportunities to discuss religion with my friends and determine what was right. In High School I accepted an invitation to read and pray about the Book of Mormon from my seminary teacher. I received a witness from God that it is true and that Jospeh Smith was a prophet of God. Since then, as I've learned more about the restored gospel, that same reassuring witness has come back to me. It helps me know that God knows me and cares about me. I know that by following His example, I and my loved ones have been able to receive many of his blessings.

How I live my faith

I am a leader in my of my local congregation and am responsible for the temporal and spiritual welfare of nearly 100 other men and their families. We regularly organize service projects to help other families moving into and out of our area. We also provide service to our local community such as roadside clean ups and improving the landscaping at the local library. In addition to giving service, we sponsor fun activites that build the spirit of brotherhood among the men and their families. We've held wii game nights on the big-screen, rocket-powered pinewood derby competitions, hiking 14ner's, kick-ball tournaments, and regular backetball games at the chruch. Finally, we encourage each other to learn and follow the example of our elder brother, the Savior. We conduct Sunday school lessons specifically for the brethren. And, each month two brothers are assigned to go visit and teach another family in their home. This helps us strenghthen and support each other as we work to bring ourselves and our families back to our Father in Heaven. I am thankfull for this opporuntity to serve the Lord in this capacity. I have witnessed many miracles occur in the families that I've been able to serve. The Lord truly leads this chruch and watches and cares for each one of his disciples.
