Hi I'm Dan

I'm a new father. I teach middle school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

We just had our first baby girl and are so excited. She is a few months old and growing fast. I love teaching middle school and working with the great students that have the chance to meet. I'm attending college at nights for my Master Degree in Special Education. I love swimming and biking and living in Southern California.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Mormon faith and decided as a teenager that I wanted to decide for myself if the things taught in the Mormon faith were true. I studied and prayed to know if it was true and felt very soft answers on multiple occasions. Since that time, I have had my decision reconfirmed in stronger and more dramatic ways. I feel like my Heavenly Father has told me directly and clearly that this is the right path and the things I am taught are true.

How I live my faith

I am currently blessed to serve as a teacher in our church's Sunday School. One of the greatest blessings from this opportunity to serve is that I learn more from the teachings of the Bible each week as our class studies together. I try to live my faith by loving other people. Every friend that I meet is a son or daughter of my Heavenly Father and I can often feel His love for them. I try to help them feel that same love as well. One of the most important ways that I live my faith is by trying to be a good husband and a good father. This is something that requires my attention everyday but I feel like the rewards are immediate.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Dan
Temples are a place where we can focus entirely on the things that really matter. We can stop thinking about the daily work and stress that is always there. We focus on Heavenly Father's plan of happiness for us and what we need to do in order to live closer to Heavenly Father. We learn that sin creates a distance between us and Heavenly Father and that Jesus Christ is the only way to overcome that distance. We learn that God wants us to make certain promises that will help us live a better life and in the process become stronger people. We learn that God will help us keep those promises and Jesus Christ gives us the strength to do so. The promises that we make in the temple have been some of the greatest blessings in my life. I often go to the temple feeling stressed and tired. I always leave with a better perspective on life and a greater desire to love people and be a better husband and father. Whenever I go to the temple, I remember the promises that I made with Heavenly Father and what He has promised me in return. I love the things that we are taught in the temple. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Dan
The Holy Bible contains the writings of prophets that God sent to spread His message. His message is the central purpose to all scripture, that Jesus Christ is the way to return back to live with our Heavenly Father. The Israelites from long ago wrote down what the prophets taught regarding Jesus Christ and now many of their words are compiled together in this book that is sacred and important. Show more Show less
