Hi I'm Denise

I'm a Mormon. I joined the church when I was fourteen years old.

About Me

I am a mother of four; two boys & two girls. I have three amazing grandsons and a beautiful little granddaughter. Aside from spending time with my family I love to create. I was a director/producer of a children's theater company for twenty years. I fell into wedding planning; weddings being just another production with it's players, costumes, set-design, etc. I designed costumes for many years, I enjoy floral design and interior design. I believe my love and need to create is an inherent trait from my Heavenly Father.

Why I am a Mormon

I sat-in on the missionary lesson when I was a teenager. The principles the Elders taught were very familiar, although I had never heard them before. When they taught about the Godhead; God the Father, Jesus Christ and Holy Ghost, it was very clear in my mind, like something I had always known. Further investigation led me to a testimony of Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. Baptism into the church changed the direction of not only my life, but my entire family. I am forever grateful to my Heavenly Father for showing me the path and lighting my way.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith every day by lifting the hands of those around me. I am committed to the knowledge that "if ye have done it unto the least of these, ye have done it unto me." I have served in many callings within the church, but they usually lead back to planning events for my ward; talent shows, Independence Day BBQ, Halloween Carnivals, Christmas Celebrations. Recently I have been called to work in the Family History Center where I am searching my family genealogy. Family History has been a great blessing, for I have found living family members I didn't know I had. Helping others find their ancestors is greatly rewarding and I get much satisfaction serving in this calling. Living my faith is more than a calling. Living my faith is doing all I can to have a greater understanding and relationship with Jesus Christ. I seek this by regular scripture reading, family home evening, attending the temple, and praying often.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Mormon women are as diverse as any group of women. The binding thread is our belief that we are daughters of our Heavenly Father who loves us, and we love him. We learn of our divine nature and individual worth and we certainly learn a great deal from one another. The women of the church are very often the angel hands doing the Lord's work. We are career women and homemakers. I have never found more respect than from my own husband and the men in the church. My husband and I are equal partners, side by side creating our life together.
