Hi I'm Sandra J Morris

I was raised in Arizona. I lived for three years in Germany and one & one-half years in Mexico City. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay-at-home mom and grandma. Before my children were born, I taught school for about five years. Eleven children, 45 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren have blessed my life. Grandpa and I often have visits from the kids, grandkids and great-grandkids day (and night) stopovers. My hobbies, along with "kids", include: music, creating greeting cards, sewing, reading, cooking, [and cooking with solar ovens.] Piano, violin and organ are instruments for which I have some talent. Spanish and German are languages I enjoy studing and reading along with my English. Germany and Mexico [along with California and Texas] are places I have lived outside of Arizona.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have a testimony that Jesus Christ is the Son of God; He was crucified to atone for my sins and the sins of all men and women born upon this earth. Jesus was resurrected and lives today with His (my, your) Father in Heaven. I believe families can be together forever. My temple marriage is for "time on this earth and throughout all eternity!!" I enjoy reading the Holy Scriptures. The Bible, Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price and the Doctrine and Covenents are like "letters from home". I believe that Joseph Smith was truly a prophet whom God called to restore His Gospel in these, the latter days. Joseph received an answer to prayer as to which church was the correct church. He was visited by God, The Eternal Father and His Son, Jesus Christ in a grove of trees as Joseph knelt in fervent prayer. Joseph was told that he was the one chosen to restore the "good news" as it was in the former days when Jesus was on the earth. And thus we have been blessed with a Prophet and 12 Apostles in this, the Latter Days. And, today our prophet is President Thomas S Monson. I am truly a "convert" to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! I bear this testimony in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!

How I live my faith

My family was musically inclined and so I remember singing solos and in groups for planned programs in our church. I have always enjoyed participating in group activities as I grew from childhood through my teenage years. My teachers and leaders were great examples of showing love and concern for all young people in their stewardship. Opportunities for giving talks and developing my talents in many areas such as dance festivals, speech festivals choral programs, teaching moments, etc., were included in my Sunday and weekly meetings at the church building and daily Seminary classes during high school. When my calling was to be a leader and work with the young men and women, I was delighted to share my talents. I mainly worked with the young people in their activities such as: choruses, mucical road shows (song/dance/musical plays), dance festivals, directing music, etc. I have also participated as a secretary to the women's organization in the church. This gave me many opportunities for service and creativity. In each place I have lived, I have had the calling of a Visiting Teacher. This gave me the privilege to visit several sisters each month and give them a short spiritual lesson and accertain their needs and report to the president of our women's organization when help was needed. Wherever I lived I participated in musical events. I have accompanied solos and groups with piano or organ; I have also directed choirs and congregational singing at church and community affairs. With others, I was a director of dance festivals that performed in our church buildings and school stadiums. Several years I was a Precinct Comitteeman and helped at polling places spreading information about candidates and polloing places and registering new voters. Two or three years I directed a childrens' chorus and we performed at Rest Homes, Community events and for parents.
