Hi I'm Jaylen

I've lived all over the United States. I'm a computer engineering student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to think about and analyze the world around me. I'm working on a bachelor's degree in computer engineering, after which I'll enter a master's program in the same subject. I plan to work on medical device programming on the embedded software level. I enjoy spending time with my wife, solving problems, building things and programming. I don't watch much tv, but I do enjoy shows like Mythbusters and NCIS. Lately, my interest in the show My Little Pony - Friendship is Magic qualifies me as a 'brony'. I enjoy the outdoors, although schoolwork and my work as a computer tech keep me really busy. I like working hard and helping others, and I love tackling difficult problems.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason I initially became a Mormon is my family. My parents raised me in the church and taught me about Christ and the need to follow His commandments. Much of my motivation in the Gospel comes from a sense of duty, but I love the stability and peace I find in the commandments and doctrine of the Church. As an analytical person, I have spent a lot of time thinking about the Gospel. One thing that I love about this faith is that it makes sense. The depth and connectedness of the doctrine helps me feel like I can understand much of what I learn intellectually. I remain a member of the Church both for the reasons above and because I have prayed for my own testimony and received a witness from the Spirit that the Book of Mormon is true. The rest of my testimony relies on that witness and on the blessings I receive from keeping the commandments. My testimony helps give me a purpose in life and hope for life after this life with my family and my wife.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to do my best at work, school, and life in general. I try to be considerate, hard working, and resourceful. These things help me grow as a person and become an honest, contributing member of society. I have performed many roles at church, ranging from managing a local church website to serving as an assistant scoutmaster to my current work as a local assistant to the missionaries.

What is the Law of Chastity?

The law of chastity requires that we reserve sexual feelings and relationships for marriage between a man and woman. This law helps us reserve our most powerful feelings for the person we will be with forever. These feelings help bond husband and wife together emotionally and physically, so that 'they twain shall be one flesh' Mark 10 v8. Show more Show less
