Hi I'm Susan

I'm a wife and a mother of one. I love to sing and I love music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a young mother of one and the wife of an Army soldier. I love music and exercise and have focused my studies in vocal performance and exercise science. I teach piano and voice lessons. Recently I began participating in the production of youth musicals, such as: Aladdin, Alice in Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz, and Into the Woods. Although music is my passion, I am also an avid reader of many different types of genres. I also love sports! There is nothing better than watching a good game of baseball while eating a hot dog smothered in chili. When I'm not indoors you will find my family and I camping and hiking. My favorite thing to see are the stars -- they exude a beautiful and awesome testimony of a divine creator, and that is something I cannot ignore.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have felt the love of my Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ. I know they exist and I know that they are governing this world. The Holy Ghost has testified to me that my Savior knows who I am and that He is mindful of my life. I am a Mormon because I want to be like my Savior -- someone who is loving, kind, gentle, virtuous, and full of integrity. In order to change I need to have truth in my life and, being a member of of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, brings me that truth. I know that by following in the Savior's footsteps I will one day be as he is and that through Christ's Atonement I can repent of my sins and overcome my weaknesses. I'm a Mormon because I know these things are true.

How I live my faith

In my ward I am the choir director. I also teach the young women of our church by being a member of the Young Women Presidency. Every Sunday I get to be with young women ages 12-18. The leaders take turns teaching, though we are assigned to a specific class within the young women. Besides Sunday meetings, we also meet once a week on a weeknight and have fun activities for the young women to do. The activities provide a wide range of opportunities from learning how to cook to having a water party/BBQ! As choir director I pick music for the ward choir to sing. We try to perform during our sacrament meeting at least once a month. Music provides an uplifting and calming spirit to our meetings. Music invites the Holy Ghost and testifies of Jesus Christ in such a way that is edifying to the spirit and enlightening to the mind. I love being a part of that process. I love my callings and I love serving and sharing my talents so that others can be uplifted.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Susan
When I look at the beauties of this world and the amazing organization and structure in which it functions, I know there is a God. I don't look at the stars and see a random explosion of chance; I see a divine hand that orders, organizes, and directs. It is not just in the cosmos that I see there is a God. I am an exercise science major and when I study the anatomy of the human body I see the flawlessness of the design. Yes, we suffer sickness and disease on earth, but the basic design of how we are to function cannot be by chance. I have also felt it in my heart as I ponder our place on this earth and as I think of my Heavenly Father. He is there. He is listening. God exists. Show more Show less
