Hi I'm Shelly

I am originally from CA, which is where I joined the church. I moved to Parker 20 years ago. I am married and have five children

About Me

I love being a stay at home mom. I have five kids and I enjoy raising them. (almost all the time). I have been married for 25 years and find it hard to believe that we have been together for a quarter of a century. My family is the most important thing to me and is the source of much of the joy that I feel in my life. I enjoy working out and have realized over the years that exercise has saved me not only from poor physical health but has saved my emotional health as well. I call it my Prozac. Friends are also a very important part of my life and I love being able to enjoy the company of other women who understand my life so well.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because ......When I was 11 years old my dad became interested in religion. He investigated many churches. Some of our close family friends were Mormon's so when the missionaries came by our house one day my dad was happy to let them in to learn more. My parents and my sister were baptized a couple months later. Soon after that I decided to join the church as well. My father was diagnosed with cancer and died very shortly after I was baptized. I was devastated. The gospel teaches that families can be together again in the life after this one and I was so thankful for that knowledge. I have a strong testimony of this gospel and I attribute my happiness and the intense love I have for my family to knowing that life goes on after we leave this earth and that families are eternal.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by truing hard to keep the commandments. I have opportunities to work with children and I really enjoy that. I love the women's organization of the Mormon church, the Relief Society. I enjoy the fellowship of other women trying to accomplish the same things that I am. I am strengthened by the courage of other women and am inspired to do better myself when I see how they overcome the struggles in their lives.
