Hi I'm Josh

I am from the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being deep in the wilderness, far from pavement and billboards and car exhaust. I love to explore the natural beauty of the earth...mountains, desert, forest, ocean. I feel lucky to live in a fantastic place like Colorado where access to high altitudes is plentiful. I enjoy exploring and traveling the globe, especially with my wife. I love maps and books and photography. I am an amateur historian and am fascinated about how our society has developed from yesterday to today. I love good music, good food, and good company. I enjoy being with family. I love baseball and hope the Yankees lose every year. I appreciate the endless opportunities we have in this life to learn and improve and create something better for ourselves and our fellow man.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a member of the LDS Church by my devout parents who taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ. However, it wasn't always easy for me to fully embrace being a Mormon. I struggled at times in my life with the idea that religion was right for me and what I wanted. As I've grown older, I've realized the great worth of choosing to be a believer. I know it is a personal choice to believe in God, and I know that as we make that choice with genuine sincerity, we begin to see that the hand of God is real and active in our lives. I've learned that as we show faith, as we decide to change our lives, as we embrace living the teachings of Christ, we are blessed and our lives improve. We are not free of challenges or heartache or loss, but as we turn our hearts to God and seek Him, we find the necessary strength and courage to overcome difficulties. As we seek God, we find out what this life is truly all about, and ultimately we find peace. The LDS Church has been instrumental in my life in helping me to find out what my life is all about. My membership has given me opportunity to learn and practice the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I love how the Mormon Church is centered upon the Christian idea of service and charity for our fellow man. As a Mormon, I have countless opportunities to give of my time and resources for the benefit of others. I know this is what I should be doing with my life. I am very grateful for the good influence my faith has on every aspect of my life. I feel privileged to be part of something that is good, and that brings me closer to God.

How I live my faith

As a member of my local congregation, I have the opportunity to work as an adviser in the youth program. I help supervise and coordinate activities in which the young men of our congregation are involved. I enjoy being in this position as it gives me the opportunity to interact with the youth on a regular basis. I am impressed by how these young people desire to do what is right. They want to do what God wants them to do. That shows a great deal of maturity at a young age, and I learn a lot from their examples.
