Hi I'm Laurie

I am a Sister to my 4 brothers, a Wife to my Eternal Love of 33 years, a Mother of two adult sons, a Nana, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in Wisconsin for 23 years now. I was born in the United States and my family moved overseas when I was 8 years old. Our family lived in Australia and the Philippines for 10 years. While living overseas I learned to value all of God’s children regardless of their socio-economic status, race, nationality, religion, etc. I enjoy playing the piano, singing, snow shoeing, hiking, journal writing, reading, and playing with our granddaughter. I love the seasons, especially winter when I can snowshoe on the frozen lake with my dog.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in Jesus Christ and the truths He taught. I know it is only through Him and His teachings that I can find peace, happiness, courage and hope despite the struggles and challenges of life. In hard times He helps me to remember my blessings. Gratitude is an anchoring principle in my life. There is so much to be grateful for. Through personal study and Gospel teachings, I have learned for myself that Jesus Christ lives today and loves me. In His resurrected state He watches over me and all mankind. It is through Him that my needs and those of my fellowmen are fulfilled day in and day out. Better yet, it is through His sacrifice, power and grace, that I, with many others, will receive my fondest dreams in this life and the life hereafter.

How I live my faith

I truly believe in the power of love. Love is the GREAT commandment. I endeavor to exercise that love through being “an example of the believers, in word, conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” (The New Testament – 1 Timothy 4:12) I’m not perfect but the Gospel of Jesus Christ gives me a ‘perfect pattern’ to follow. Loving and serving others brings me JOY and HAPPINESS and is part of my daily life. I enjoy SMILING, giving a friendly greeting, writing an encouraging letter or whatever the Lord needs me to do. I consider myself to be God’s servant and I pray daily that He will inspire me to DO what He desires.
