Hi I'm Valerie

I am a stay at home Mom and home educator of my 5 children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 40 year old Mother of 5 wonderful kids! I am married to my best friend and we were married/sealed in the temple of our Lord 22 wondrous years ago. I have a B.S. degree in Radiographic Science and I spent 10 adventurous years working in a hospital/trauma setting. Nine years ago I was blessed with the opportunity to stay home and educate my children. I have an 11 year old with Autism and this has proven to be an essential part of his progression and success in life. I will be forever grateful for the time I have been given with my children to educate them in the things that I know are of greatest worth! My current hobbies revolve around education. Our family has multitudes of food allergies and I have spent the past 7 years educating myself on health, nutrition, and alternative medicine. I have developed a love for Mother Earth and all of her wonderful resources!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love the Savior and I want to follow Him. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is His gospel restored to the Earth. I love the Church! I love what it does for my family! My children have so many resources at their disposal to help them through this life. They have a ward family that loves them like their biological family does. They know that their ward family will help them through tough times in their lives. We traveled across the U.S. this past Spring and it was such a wonderful thing for my kids to stop each Sunday in a remote town and go to Church with total strangers and still feel the love that these people had for us! People in the Church truly love each other because we KNOW that we are literally brothers and sisters. We have common goals and we are united in our faith. I can go pretty much anywhere in the world and find a congregation where I can fit in and feel the love of our Savior. I love the fact that I am always encouraged to progress Spiritually and I have teachers and leaders who are always here to help me. I love the structure of the Church. I love that all of our leadership are just regular people like you and me. There are so many opportunities to stretch myself in the Church and do things that I never thought I could do. Ultimately, I am a Mormon because the Holy Ghost has testified to me that this is the true Gospel of our Savior, that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and it testifies of the divinity of Jesus, that God leads his children today through the words of a living prophet, and that the Savior atoned and died for us and He will return to this Earth and claim us as His own.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by participating in worship services every week. I play the organ for our Sacrament Meetings. I teach an adult class for women once per month. I am a Wolf Den leader for Cub Scouts. I am a merit badge counselor for Boy Scouts of America. (Scouting is a BIG part of our youth program for boys and young men.) I also visit two ladies once per month to check in on them and make sure that their families don't have any temporal needs that the Church should know about. I also teach them a spiritual lesson and spend time just visiting and building friendships. That is my outward way that I live my faith. Inwardly, I read my scriptures daily, say prayers both in private and as a family, and I try diligently to be a better person today than I was yesterday.
