Hi I'm Tom

I'm a Colorado native and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work in online marketing as a developer and specialist. I am a football enthusiast, I like swimming as well and should do it way more often than I do. My family is a part of my life that work and hobbies can never replace. They are always there to help me whenever I need and in cases when I don't think I need it!

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the LDS church when I was eight. Missionaries visited my home where my twin brother and single mother lived at the time. They were persistent in continuing to stop by and invite us to listen, even though my mom continued to put them off. After a fourth time she consented and we started listening to the lessons. I continue to be a member of the Church because I know it to be true. There isn't any doubt about it. I have never felt closer to God in any other religion, or situation. The LDS church is a personal church, it's about your relationship with your Heavenly Father. It's not about whether I'm doing better than someone else, but if I'm doing better than I was before. Over time it has taken a bit to get there and understand that principle, but the principle holds true. The message of the church is a simple invitation to come and know God personally and in depth. Nothing more, nothing less. I like that, it's a message that says it's up to me to maintain my connection with God. If I find myself in a situation I don't agree with, I can change that by strengthening my bond with my Heavenly Father. The LDS church does just that, teaches me how I can identify places to improve and what I need to do to improve that relationship.

How I live my faith

I am the Sunday School President in my ward. I am responsible in making sure that the weekly curriculum is taught in a way that all may be spiritually fed. While I don't teach the lessons directly, as there are others called to teach those lessons, the Sunday School presidency is responsible for making sure the teachers are supported in all they need. Learning and growing in the knowledge of the savior helps me to grow closer and feel his love.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was NOT the author of the Book of Mormon. He translated it. Similar to the scholars that translated the Bible, he translated the Book of Mormon. His story is no different than those of our own in this church and world wide. Joseph had a simple question, which church was true. He received and answer and moved forward with steadfastness in his faith to do what God had told him to do. His story is an inspiration to those in the world today to stick to your principles. He gave everything, his time, his money, this talents, his family for he lost even children to mobs who broke into his home to persecute him, and in the end his life. We do not worship Joseph, but rather revere him for his sacrifice to restore to the earth the church of Jesus Christ. Joseph is a hero to me for what he did and what he stands for. May we all have the convictions of Joseph in today's world, and our world would change for the good. Show more Show less
