Hi I'm マーク or Marc

I'm American, but I have lived in Montréal, as well as 大阪県 in Japan. I now work in the U.S., with the federal government.

About Me

Bonjour vous autres! I speak English and bad English, with the occasional Français. I'm a parent, a student, a teacher, and a "Salary Man." I work in a federal agency office, mapping out locations. There is a big oil boom going in the state of North Dakota. We have been given a wonderful place to live. And while there are times that we do not always respect or appreciate the abundance of this earth, God has given us many resources under our stewardship. Do we exploit these resources? Perhaps, but we can all individually respect what has been given to us, and show gratitude for everything which has been provided to us by a loving Father in Heaven.

Why I am a Mormon

Of all the different countries, cultures, and outlooks on life, I am amazed that this church is so successful at bringing all nations of the earth together. There is no reviling of others' beliefs. All are free to worship God how, where, and what they may. We all must choose how to live the life that we have been given. Our Heavenly Father is a God of love. His son, Jésus Christ, has provided us a way to learn from our mistakes, repent, and move on in our eternal progression. That is the atonement. We may differ on careers, politics, sports, and even language. But the greatest thing about the church is that no matter who we are, or where (or when) we lived, we are all part of a larger family. Our Father in Heaven wants ALL of us to return and live with him. That is the message of the gospel.

How I live my faith

I am far from perfect. All of us have to choose what we will do with every day we are given. This life is a gift, a test, and an opportunity. Every time I can "choose the right" I know that I am choosing a path of happiness. I will never have all the answers, but I know what is taught in the scriptures and by the church leaders is the best way to find happiness here. Do you think that MTV or CNN can solve your problems? Why is it we are here? What are we doing on this Earth? Everyone thinks about these big issues we face. Who can answer these questions with certainty? The Savior can! I invite anyone who is reading this to put our religion to the test. You can know that God is real, and that He wants more than anything that we do our best and put our faith in the Savior. Sure there are bumps and bruises along the way. Compared to so many others in the world, we have it so good! But our relative disappointments and hardships are there to make us stronger. Jesus knows our pain, because he has suffered more than any of us can imagine.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

マーク or Marc
Joseph Smith is not worshiped in the church any more than Steve Young. He was a man. He did what God asked of him. We show respect and gratitude toward the leaders of the church. However, are prayers are to our Heavenly Father, and our praise goes to his son, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
