Hi I'm Dora

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the daughter of a retired Air Force Sargent. So I spent my childhood in different parts of the country. I made friends who I had to leave and always found new friends wherever we lived. My parents were born and raised in SLC so I have pioneer roots but lived outside of the mormon culture. I love my country and living in different states gave me an appreciation for the cultures within the American culture. I do love living in the Northwest. It is so beautiful and I feel blessed to live in this nation where we do have freedom of religion and so many opportunites for growth.

Why I am a Mormon

Going to church was a challenge as my mother never drove and we had only one car. We depended on the good nature of our church friends to give us rides to services and activities. I developed a great love for the gospel of Jesus Christ. I learned and I grew. I was challenged in my teenage years by well meaning members of another faith who wanted to save my soul, which started me on a soul searching journey. One that brought me into clarity that I did belong to Christ's church. I felt it with every part of my mind, heart and body. I have read the scriptures and studied. I love the Book of Mormon and understand that people who have not can call us non christian but if they had read it or talked to me, they would know different. Mormons are Christians. We love the Savior and all he did for us. We do accept Him as such and look to him as the only source of our salvation. I love Him with all my heart.

How I live my faith

I have served in many capacities within the church. We often are given opportunities to serve others. I am blessed to live the gospel everyday and the richness and quality of life is evidence that there is so much good in the world. There are safe havens from the chaos so often found going on around us. I choose to love Jesus Christ and live His teachings. I live it because the fruits of living it are filled with joy. Sure, life is full of choices and challenges, that is how we grow. And there is so much happiness found in living a righteous life. In this I have found so much peace and joy. I invite all to find out for yourselves. As President Hinckley taught, we don't want to take anything away from you we just offer you more. Light begets light.
