Hi I'm Sylvia

I am married and have four children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of four children. I have invested 18 years helping them grow into happy, healthy productive citizens. I take my job as a mother seriously and feel that it is the most important thing that I could possibly be doing at this moment in my life. Mothering was very challenging for me at first. I always wanted to have children and stay home from work to take care of them but that was easier said then done. The first year after I had my oldest child was a very difficult and trying time for me. I didn't realize that I had postpartum depression and I longed for happiness. I mistakingly thought it was because I was not contributing to society in a work enviroment and had dark feelings of loneliness and isolation. I weathered through that first year and things started to become more managable as my thoughts changed and I had a more hopeful outlook. Looking back I am so glad that I made that decission to stay home. I have grown and changed more as a person from raising my children than I could have ever dreamed. I am a stronger, more compassionate, wiser, and happier individual because I get to spend time with four incredible human beings.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised into the Mormon faith. I have continued living the Gospel of Jesus Christ as an adult because I have found that it is true. I have prayed, asked in faith, and received an answer those prayers about the teachings of this church so, I act upon those answers and actively participate in this church. I haven't always known that this was the path that my life should take but sincerely asking God what I should do has kept me here. Living by the example of Jesus Christ brings peace to my life and hope for a better world. I know that Jesus Christ died for my sins, my grief, and my pain and made a way for me to return to live with my Father in Heaven again.

How I live my faith

When I think about Jesus Christ I often think about the service that he gave to others. I try to follow His example by serving the women at church. My job is to see to the spiritual, emotional and physical welfare of the women in our congregation. We try to meet each others needs in several ways, we organizing classes, we visit each other in our homes and we attend a Sunday meeting that is just for women. We have organized classes to teach anything from sewing a skirt to understanding autisim. We also organize cultural events and volunteer in the community. To meet the spiritual needs of the women we meet together every Sunday in a class setting and discuss topics of a religious and spiritual nature. The teaching and discussions in this class are lead by one of our women. We take care of each other by providing meals if someone is sick, by giving a listening ear or just by offering support. Although we are very different individualy we come together as daughters of a loving Heavenly Father to take care of each other.
