Hi I'm Jerry

I'm a Mormon. I am 85 years old. I have been a Mormon 62 years. I served in the US Army Air Force 1944-46 during World War 2.

About Me

My wife and I have been married 63 years and raised 5 daughters. We have 22 grandchildren and about the same number great grandchildren. (all members of the church). I worked 52 years as an automobile mechanic retiring in 1998. We aquired a couple of rental properties, so I guess my hobby is remodeling and repairing, upkeep on them. I also do most of any repairs on our home and any woodworking project my kids ask me to do. I feel like we have been fortunate to have raised healthy, honest, productive children. For that, I give most of the credit to my wife and the wonderful dedicated teachers in the church. As for myself, I was a smoker before I became a Mormon, but because of the church, I gained the strength to break the habit. In that regard I feel like the church probably saved my life

Why I am a Mormon

I believe Jesus Christ is our Savior and died on the cross for our sins, and rose from the dead on the third day. He lives and is our advocate to The Father. I believe Joseph Smith actually saw the vision of Jesus Christ and God the Father in the sacred grove in Palmyra New York as he said he did and died as a martyr for saying so.

How I live my faith

I am the ward clerk in our ward and am responible for recording baptisms, blessings of children, ordinations, making monthly and quarterly reports. Ours is a small ward, so also take care of moving membership records in and out as members move. I have a hometeaching assignment and visit 3 families each month. Our church has a cannery in our area and in the past I have donated many hours working there. We have canned many items over the years, pears, corn, beans, tomato soup, beaf chunks, pork chunks, etc. This is all done for welfare and humanitarian Service. I contribute money in the way of tithing, fast offerings, humanitarian fund, perpetual education fund, etc. I also contribute to other worthy causes other than the church. I attend all my meetings and try to live an honest, true life the best of my ability
