Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a mother of 5 kids and one grandchild. I love to sing, especially songs praising Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to sing! I have been a member of the Colorado Mormon Chorale for 6 years. Christmas and Easter are our major performances, we are invited every year to sing the National Anthem for the Colorado Rockies Baseball Team, and we also sing at a variety of Inter-Faith activites. I also sing with a Rock group, with a Jazz combo, and in my church choir. I've been married to a wonderful man for 27 years. We have 5 children and 1 grandchild. Some kids are married and moved out, others live at home, and our youngest is in high school. It is a challenge to work with grown children in various stages of life, but we love them and are proud of them. My husband and I have lots of activities we enjoy doing together. I think it helps keep our marriage strong. We enjoy astrophotography and astronomy, camping, going to movies, traveling to visit our grandchild, or just taking a trip to the grocery store together.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church when I was 3 years old, so even though I grew up in the church, when I was about 14 years old I began searching to know for myself if what I had been taught all my life was true. I read the Book of Mormon for the first time on my own. I spent a few weeks praying to know for myself and not live on 'borrowed light'. My prayers were answered, and I received a sure feeling that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was Heavenly Father's and Jesus Christ's authorized church on the earth. I was surprised that my answer came quickly and so unequivocally. After continuing to live the gospel and serving in the church, I now can look back with 30 years of hindsight and see the Lord's hand in that event. That testimony has been severly tested many times. No matter how hard any of us strive to live a good Christian life, that will never spare us from the difficulties of life. We've struggled with health problems, marital difficulties, worries about children's choices, unemployment....but with each storm we've been able to hold fast to our beliefs and make it through. That testimony I gained as a young girl helps remind me that I'm a daughter of God, that He loves me and watches over me and my family. He answers my prayers, and helps me with difficult choices. When I felt the most alone and suffering under heavy burdens, He never left me; He comforted and carried me. "He clothes the lilies of the field, He feeds the birds in the sky, and He will feed those who trust Him and guide them with His eye." (from one of my favorite songs 'Consider the Lilies' by Roger Hoffman) This love, guidance and comfort came from God our Heavenly Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ. I know they live! Jesus Christ atoned for our sins and is our Savior and Redeemer. Because of Him, I can return to live with God again. I will be forever grateful for this gift of testimony.

How I live my faith

I am the President of our ward's Primary childrens' organization. This youth group includes ages 18 months to 11 years. We have teachers who provide Sunday classes for about an hour, then we gather together for a fun group activity that includes gospel instruction and singing songs about the gospel and Jesus Christ. We also provide a weeknight youth activity. I work with the Cub Scouts and serve on the Cub Committee. I also work with the 11-year old Boy Scouts and am a committee member. I love working with children. It is so satisfying to watch their gospel knowlege and their testimonies grow by leaps and bounds! They never cease to amaze me with their simple faith and willingness to obey God's commandments. I also visit some of the ladies from church in their homes each month. My companion and I prepare a spiritual message for them, but we also get to know them better and build friendships. If they ever need anything, we'll be there to give them a hand. I sing with the Colorado Mormon Chorale. We perform about 12 concerts a year, with Easter and Christmas being the highlights of our concert season.
