Hi I'm Dave

I am a proud father of 4, happily married and trying to make my corner of the world a better place. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I served a mission in Korea and am now married with 4 kids. I am approaching the time when they will start to move on to college, so we are busy. I have a PhD in Electrical Engineering and have traveled extensively with that job. I like woodworking and creating things with my hands. Not very good at it yet, but always willing to try. I love old tube stereos and have built my own speakers and run the occasional dance.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, I am a Mormon by birth. My father is a convert (before he met my mom), my mother's side of the family has a long pioneer heritage. A better question is why I am STILL a Mormon. I have gained a testimony of the truthfulness of restored gospel. I have struggled like any other person to gain that testimony. Continuing experiences have only re-enforced that faith. The world is a confusing place. I feel like I have found an anchor of truth that makes sense of an increasingly chaotic world.

How I live my faith

I am involved with a community choir, continuing a love of music developed in high school. I have served as just about every kind of scout leader (cub master, scoutmaster, asst scout master, etc) and have been involved with the youth in one form or another for the past 10 years, from 8 years old to 18. I am the designated camp chef for week long adventures. I was asked to go and I said I would IF I could cook (I didn't want to each hotdogs and oatmeal for a week). Since then, I am asked to cook every time! I have organized or been involved with organizing a variety of church functions over the years, a lot of the time as a technical adviser, doing lights and sound and such. Creative use of what is at hand is the call of the day. Love to figure out how to use what we already have in creative ways. I am still the only guy in the area who know how to run the pine wood derby track and software.
