Hi I'm Jens

I grew up in Mesa, Arizona. I have a family of 5 kids and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As a father of five children, believe it or not I enjoy coming home from work to see their smiling faces. They are all smiling thanks to a wonderful wife. As a family we enjoy traveling together and have a goal to return to Germany in a few years. When I can, I try to get out on my road bike as my mind thinks I can compete with the best of them in the Alps…my body unfortunately reminds me of who I really am…a father/husband trying to just keep in shape.

Why I am a Mormon

During my teenage years, I struggled with who I was becoming. I wanted something more. When I was hanging out at the home of my friends who were members, I recognized there was a great feeling in their homes. I did not know what it was, but I knew that is what I wanted in my family. Like most in my family, I was a member but not active. If I went to church, it was typically with a friend. During a difficult week in my life, a leader challenged me to read the Book of Mormon and make note of how the week went. It was a GREAT week. He then challenged me to pray if the Book of Mormon was true. When I did, I felt the Spirit. I knew it was true and that same feeling was the feeling I felt when hanging out at my friend’s house. From that moment on, I began to recognize the Spirit which is the greatest gift our Father in Heaven has given us. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. Good things happen when you read this book. It does not mean that you will not have trials and challenges in your life, it will just help you get through them with a life centered in Christ. As the Book of Mormon is true, so is Joseph Smith who translated it. The Church of Jesus Christ has been restored in these latter days for all. We have a living prophet today, just as in days of old to help guide all Heavenly Father’s children through revelation.

How I live my faith

Heavenly Father has given us the responsibility to “feed his sheep”. As a father, I do this through serving my family, teaching them gospel principles and devoting my time and energy to ensure they have what they need….both temporally and spiritually. As a member of this Church I am also given the responsibility to serve those outside of my immediate family. Specifically I look over a group of men and help coordinate efforts to reach out to those in need through home teaching and visits. Just as my family, we look after the spiritual and temporal needs of others.
