Hi I'm Kory

I grew up in Provo, Utah. Now I live in Washington and work at a Montessori School. I'm a Montessorian and a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and have 6 children. As my wife and I started planning our life, one of our main concerns was how best to raise our children. We determined if we worked at a private school, we would have better input on what they were being taught in school to help complement what we were teaching at home. We loved the opportunities that a Montessori education provided and decided we would work at a Montessori school to help us afford a private education and meet our goals. Thirty years later we are pleased with this decision and the wonderful, amazing, loving family we have. Our kids have done well in school and 4 have graduated college. We have one just starting college and one more to go. The best thing though is how close our family is. We do various things, but the greatest times are when we are just being together playing games and spending time with each other.

Why I am a Mormon

One of the greatest things in life is the joy my family brings me. This type of happiness lasts past the lights, music, entertainment and noise. Being a Mormon, I have learned that families can be forever. The experiences we have and the love we build will go with us when we leave this life. I have learned we will continue in our family relationships through the eternities. It brings such peace and comfort to me to know that the family will continue after this life ends. What peace this brings knowing who we are will continue in the next life. Being a Mormon helps me to understand the purpose of life, how to find lasting happiness in this life, and what the future holds. I know the doctrine taught is from God and it blesses our lives.

How I live my faith

My faith is everything to me in my life. As I work at the school, my faith helps me make my choices on language, behavior and how I treat others. As I have learned about Jesus Christ, the scriptures have shown many great examples of the love and respect Christ showed for all. I have been involved in many ways over the years in the Mormon Church. Since everyone in the Church serves in various capacities to help the Church function, I have had many opportunities. I have had lots of assignments working with the youth, ages 12-18, and it is a lot of fun. They help to keep me young (but also realize I am so not young anymore)! Recently, I have been helping to organize activities and plans for the youth that involve multiple Wards (or congregations). I also help train and teach other youth leaders leaders. As I look back on my teenage years, I realize how people helped me to make choices that affected the way my life would go. I hope I can make some small difference in the youth I work with so they know they are of great value and precious to God. I hope they can learn what will be lasting, true happiness. I am happy when I see youth and children happy and being treated as children or our Heavenly Father.
