Hi I'm Blaine

I'm a Mormon. I'm a Respiratory Therapist & I love Fantasy novels. I am the son of an Idaho potato farmer.

About Me

I have traveled from Mayan ruins in MEXICO to Maori villages in New Zealand. I've been to Europe & Hawaii. My wife is a travel agent so she has gone even more places. I have been interested in the places i've seen, but am always thankful to come home. I like doing projects at home like the bookshelves I made. They contain some classics, detective stories, and my favorite genre fantasy. I love it when an author can transport me to another world that is new & exciting and to see interesting people whose lives captivate my interest. The only problem with a great book series is that when you finish the series it feels like those people that have been like your family for so long disappear. I also enjoy raising four laying hens in a corner of our yard. They really are interesting animals as well as they produce four eggs every day. My daughter helps me with the chickens & with our raised bed garden, where we raised a bumper crop of Jalapeno peppers last summer. Good thing we like hot food. I am building a to scale dome house made out of popsickle sticks glued together to make to scale lumber. The roof comes off so you can move things around on the inside. I made to scale furniture for the house also. My daughters inspired me to make these things for them, but I took too long so I suppose it will be ready for my grandchildren. I very much wanted to be a father and my life has been enriched by what my children have taught me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon but the real name of the church is The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latterday Saints. He is the head of his church through revelation to a living prophet. He has a plan for our lives to help us return to our Heavenly Father. In his church we learn to become better fathers & mothers. I beleive that the greatest happiness I can have during this life & the next is with my family. Through sacred ordinances performed in temples I have been linked to my family so I can be with them after this life. I believe there is an absolute truth for everyone and that it is constant. I believe that Jesus helps us learn the truth & set standards that keep us safe from evil forces in the world that would turn us into bad people. Because I am a Mormon & live the standards, I can resist peer pressure to do things I know are not right. I have a wonderful church family who help me live right & teach me. This church is not a shrine to perfect people however, but a hospital for imperfect people to become better & therefore happier. I believe that " Wickedness never was happiness."Alma 41:10 I believe that ondinances such as baptism are essential to eternal happiness & that they must be performed by someone with authority from God. We have recieved priesthood authority to perform ordinances from Jesus Christ, therefore he recognizes those ordinances.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a good citizen of my community. I help in projects the church develops to clean up & fix up the community called Mormon helping hands. We have terrible floods here fairly often during the wet winter months & so we get the opportunity to help clean up often. In church I have a chance to serve others also by being responsible & watching out for seven families in our local congregation. Two of us help them if they need help. One of my families needed their toilet fixed so I replaced the insides of the toilet for them. We also teach those families about the gospel of Jesus Christ and encourage them to keep his commandments & to take care of their families. We don,t have a professional clergy so each of us are given callings to do a little part of the work of running the Church. There is a presiding officer in each local congregation called a Bishop who directs the work. I help direct relief to the poor & needy to obtain food & other needs for them. I also help in the Boy Scouts. I even get a chance to give a sermon in church on occasion. We are taught to serve each other because of the example of our savior Jesus Christ, & because it makes us happy when we serve.
