Hi I'm Niel

I'm a ordinary man, with an extraordinary family, whom I love with all my heart. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a farm. I enjoyed milking cows by hand, caring for the livestock, planting and harvesting crops, and fixing machinery. I don't have a farm now, but enjoy growing vegetables and fixing things. My hobbies include gardening, fixing cars, home repairs, welding, and carpentry. I enjoy do-it-yourself projects. I'm a civil engineer by profession specializing in agriculture irrigation, water resources, and water rights. I have a wonderful wife and four grown children. All my children are married and I have 5 grandsons and one granddaughter.

Why I am a Mormon

I had wonderful parents who taught me and my brothers and sisters the gospel of Jesus Christ by word, deed, and example. When I was 15 years old I was moving a truck load of hay and my little brother fell under the truck and was killed. It was a tragic experience. I knew to pray for comfort and understanding. My prayers were answered with sweet peace and comfort from the Spirit. I knew that because of the atonement and resurrection of Jesus Christ that I could be with my brother after death and that families are eternal. I know that the Priesthood of God is on the earth and that through baptism and blessings made available in holy temples families are eternal. From that time forward I had the desire to follow the Savior Jesus Christ and do the will of my Father in Heaven. I have been blessed with opportunities to serve, teach, and bless others. I know that families are eternal and that me and my family can inherit eternal life and return to God. I carry this testimony in my heart to direct decisions that I make. Every trial in life can be conquered and we can return to our Heavenly Father. My plan is to continue to progress so that I can be with my ancestors, father and mother, wife, children, grandchildren and generations to come throughout the eternities.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by praying each day, by daily scripture study, and by loving and serving my families and others. I'm honest in my work and associations with others. I have the opportunity to serve as a Bishop of a ward (congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints). This provides me opportunity to visit, teach, and bless others. It takes a lot of time, but I’m happy to serve and I will postpone other things in my life until I finish my time as a Bishop. My work and family has been blessed as I serve. I know that there is time in our life for the most important things.
