Hi I'm Laura.

I'm a homemaker, a book lover, and a bake-aholic. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Ohio and studied theatre in college, then continued on to study theatre history in grad school. I worked as a development director for a theatre company before having our first child. It was really difficult for me to transition from the working world, but now I am thrilled to be able to stay home with our four girls and be a hands-on mom.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church when I was two years old, so I've basically grown up as a Mormon. As a teenager, my teachers urged me to read the scriptures and pray about them to find out for myself if they were true. I remember fasting one day and praying to know if the church was true, and I had a really calm, peaceful feeling come over me. I know it might seem overly simple to some people, but I knew that feeling was the Holy Ghost telling me that this is the true church of God. Since that time, I have continued to study and learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I don't have all the answers, and I know I will need to keeping learning for my entire life, but at least I know I'm trying my best to be like Jesus. I love the eternal perspective the gospel gives me. I want my friends and family to share the joy I feel when I go to church or serve others. I want them to feel the Spirit guide them through decisions in their lives and know--not just think--that they are on the right path to return to God.

How I live my faith

Every day I'm teaching my kids by example about my faith. We have daily family prayer and scripture study, and weekly family night. I'm in charge of our children's organization (Primary) in our congregation, so I'm always trying to help the children and their teachers gain and strengthen their testimonies of the Savior through (hopefully) fun lessons, songs, and scripture stories. I also had the opportunity to serve an 18 month mission for the Church to Thailand in between college and grad school, which was a life-changing experience that still influences how I live each day and how I both study and share the gospel.
