Hi I'm Jon

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Arizona, served a church mission in Romania, and went to college in Arizona and Texas.

About Me

I am married to a wonderful woman who loves me unconditionally. We have 5 children, two of which have special needs. I am a self employed optometrist and really enjoy working with my patients. Music is a very important part of my life. I am always looking for the next band coming to town and enjoy attending concerts with my wife and/or friends. I also really enjoy sports and have coached my sons' basketball teams. My wife and I enjoy travelling and try to get away, without the kids, at least once a year. Reading has also become a favorite past time over the last few years. American history, World War 2, geography, fictional spy/espionage thrillers, and church history are among the topics I enjoy most to read.

Why I am a Mormon

I have always been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My father joined the LDS church when he was 15 years old. I will always be grateful to him and his father for having the courage to change their lives. The gospel of Jesus Christ gives my life perspective. It gives me great strength and hope. The trials and challenges I have faced have been easier to cope with because of my understanding of the great plan of happiness our Heavenly Father has for each of us. I know who I am, why I am here, and where I am going. The spirit has testified to me of these true principles over and over again throughout my life. The gospel has also been instrumental in establishing morals and values in our home. It is nice to know that we are not alone in our reponsibility to raise our children. The children and youth programs of the church have greatly blessed our family and reinforce what is being taught at home. I know that we have a living prophet that leads the work of the restoration today. I know that Christ lives and that he gave his life for us. He truly is our Savior and Redeemer. He is aware of each and everyone of us and our challenges.

How I live my faith

Service to others is the best way to help us forget ourselves. I work with a group of 40-50 men in our local congregation. I help organize service opportunities, weekly meetings, and a program where we visit one anothers families in their homes. I also work with my boys in the various scouting activities they are involved in. I strive to show my belief in Christ through my actions. Honesty and integrity are very important to me and in the way I run my business.
