Hi I'm Jeffrey

I'm a Mormon

About Me

Originally I'm from Georgia- I was born and raised in the good ol' South. I have a deep passion for the physical sciences and I love to learn about the world around me. I've played the guitar since I was eleven and have always enjoyed doing so. I love to meet new meet people and experience life with those who I am around. I enjoy being physically active, and I used to be heavily involved in the sport of swimming. I am currently serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus of Latter Day Saints in what is called the New York New York North Mission. I'm spending my time inviting others to come to Christ by sharing the message of the restored gospel and by serving those around me. I'm grateful to be able to devote all my time to serving my Father in Heaven who has been so gracious to me throughout my life. After I finish my service in late summer of 2014, I plan to go back to school to continue working on my bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Mormon church, and through various experiences I have gained a testimony of the truthfulness of the Restored Gospel. All through my life I had been taught the principles of the Gospel, but I had never really sought to find out whether or not these things being taught to me were true. During my early teenage years, as I was trying to learn who I was, I finished reading the Book of Mormon all the way through, and by the warmth I felt as I finished reading it, I knew that what I had been taught all along was true. After that experience, I was able to continue to learn about my Savior and His sacrifices, and through much prayer and the help of my Father in Heaven, I was able to make myself free from the bondage of previously formed habits. This liberating feeling was indescribable- I had never been so joyful in my life. From this experience, I came to know that my Savior does know me and does look out for me, and that if I so choose to seek out His help, He will reach out His hand and pull me to where I need to be. Ever since, I've been able to continue to learn and grow, and have had various experiences, from the everyday little things, to bigger, life changing events, that have further testified of my Father in Heaven's wonderful plan for me. I know that God wants me to be happy, and as I do the things I'm taught to do, and gain a testimony that such things are what He wants me to do, I have great joy and feel at peace. I'm a Mormon because I know that I, just another person on this great planet, have hope to be eternally happy through my Father in Heaven's great love for me.

How I live my faith

I've come to learn that living my faith is constant work. Everyday I have to wake up and choose to do what I've been taught, to live up to my standards, whether or not people are watching me. Because I know that God not only hears prayers, but answers them too, I pray often, on my knees or simply in my head as I'm going about my business, and in so doing, I learn what He wants me to do. The days in which I put Him first, and seek to do what He would have me do, I am the happiest and am able to accomplish all that I set out to do. Everyday, I seek to learn something new, and on the days when I'm being obedient to my Heavenly Father's commands, I am able to learn the most incredible things about anything and everything. In knowing that He cares, I'm able to combat whatever comes my way and end up with the upper hand on things as He leads and guides me. I know that this church is true. I know that many of my questions about life have been answered with assurance through means of this church. In the joy I've felt, and the truths I've come to know, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve a mission for my church to be able to preach to the people of New York and share with them this indescribably wonderful gospel I have in my life. I am committed to work my hardest so that I am able to serve to the best of my abilities. It's the least I can do to serve God who has given me everything.
