Hi I'm Blair Garner

I have had several jobs throughout my life, about 9 years ago I became a Bank Manager for a large bank. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of 10 kids. My wife and I have been married for 9 years now. When we were married she had 4 kids and I had 5. We then had one of our own to make it 10. The five oldest children are out of the house; three of them are married and we have 3 grandchildren. I enjoy the 2 R's; running and writing. I have run since I was a child. My father and older brothers were all runners and I followed suit. Thoughout my life I have had back problems and knee problems, infact I have been advised by a couple of doctors not to run, but I love running. It helps me take a break from the stresses of the world and it keeps my heart strong. I also love to write. I have written many short stories, poems and even two novels. None of these have been published and I don't know if they ever will. I just like doing it.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was born into the church, the point came in my life that I had to know for myself that the church is true. I come from a long line of Mormons, my ancesters knew the prophet Joseph Smith. In fact, one of my great grandmothers lived to be 107 years old and was the last person living to have personally know Joseph Smith the prophet. Despite that history I still had to find out for myself. I always thought the church taught the truth and I lived off of the testimonies of my parents. I knew that they knew. I came time for me to serve as a missionary for two years and suddenly I wondered if I really knew for myself. I realized that I did not. At the age of 19, I read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover. This time I really tried to understand what I was reading and I even looked for errors in doctrine. I prayed about it. No answers came immediately, but I continued to read. As I finished the last verse of the Book of Mormon, I closed the book, and immediatly the spirit of God came over me and I knew that the book was true. Shortly there after I also gained my own testimony that the story of Joseph Smith is also true. Again the Spirit of God came upon me and I knew that he had the first vision and had truly talked with God and Christ and received direction from them to form God's church. Ever since these two experiences I have been an active member of the church. I know that it's teachings are true and will bring people to God.

How I live my faith

I have had the opportunity to serve others through my service in the Church. I have toaght the youth in Sunday classes and I have worked with the full-time missionaries in teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to others. I have worked with the young men through scouting and twice served as the Scoutmaster. I have also served as a teacher for the smaller children of the church. I have served in Leadership positions within the local church congregation and I am currently serving as a leader of the young men. I strive to serve others when I can and strive to live my life as Christ would have me live it. I am not perfect at it, but I keep trying to improve. I have found that happiness comes through serving others.
