Hi I'm Russell

I grew up in Wyoming but I don't hunt or farm. I love to sing and play the piano. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a town of 150 in Wyoming and don't farm, hunt, and am the youngest of six. I played football for 7 years during middle school and high school. My graduating class had 35 people in it. Music has always been a big part of my life. I've been blessed to participate in different choirs around Wyoming and some around the nation. Good, uplifting music helps me to feel the spirit and understand certain truths in different ways. I was able to spend two college semesters in a Men's Choir prior to serving my mission. Being in the choir provided me to perform in the Tabernacle on Temple Square. To sing somewhere with as much history and spirit as the Tabernacle caused my testimony to grow and my love for music to intensify.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church and continue to be a member because I have drawn nearer to God by living His gospel than any other way. I know that incredible power comes from living the way God and Christ have established. They have created a plan for us and if we do our best to stick to that plan we can become better people and disciples of Christ. I find incredible love and strength in the Book of Mormon. I see how reading and studying it keeps my faith in Christ. Through trials and discouragement I am able to maintain that love for God because I read of how He loves us. I love Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and his gospel, and I love this church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing my best to serve God in all the ways He's asked. It isn't always easy to do what we know is right. It's not always pleasant to stand alone, especially during trials and difficult points in our lives, but remaining true and faithful to God has been my strength and my support through the course of my life. It's been by living His commandments and listening to His prophets that I've found real happiness. I live my faith by actively being involved in the church. It is a structure that is meant to support families and individuals and encourage us to live the gospel of Christ. There I find fellowship and love from other members. It is it's own kind of family. I find strength from associating with the members there.
