Hi I'm Pat

I grew up in Illinois. I am an adoptive parent. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the midwest and completed an RN degree there. I have had a great interest in mental health and so that became my area of specialization. I worked in a state hospital in southern Illinois for a time and then moved to Utah, where I completed a Master's degree in Social Work. I have worked full time until this last year when I retired. I have 6 adopted children who were all born in India. I have had a great love for India since I was in grade school and being able to have my children is one of the greatest blessings of my life. I married later in life- to someone who had 8 children from a previous marriage--- so we are a blended family now. I like to learn Russian. When I have some free time, I would like to take some university classes. About 10 years ago, I learned how to spin wool. It has given me such great pleasure. I also wanted to have some sheep in order to have on ongoing wool supply. SInce we lived in the city, that was a challenge- but it worked out and we have had as many as 85 sheep. I have loved being a shepherd!

Why I am a Mormon

I had spent much of my younger life searching for something in which to believe. I had passed the local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints frequently and had always wondered about it. It was small and away from "church row." It seemed familiar somehow. It was not until I was in college that I really took the time to find out about it. I love the Book of Mormon. It spoke to my heart after reading just a few pages. I had never read anything like it. I experienced the promise given in the book of Moroni- that the Holy Ghost would confirm its truthfulness if I prayed about it with real intent. I know that the Book of Mormon is correct- and that Joseph Smith really was a prophet and that we are so blessed to have a prophet today. What a great gift from the Lord to us! It just confirms to me that Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ love us individually and want only for us to have all that they have. I love that if I do my best to keep the commandments and participate in the needed ordinances that I can live with my family forever.

How I live my faith

I have had opportunities to help the young children of the church to learn gospel principles- I want to help build in them a testimony of and love for their Savior. I have also had the opportunity to teach adults and teenagers. I try to keep the commandments and become more like the Savior by making the little changes that are needed each day.
