Hi I'm Sue

I'm a Mormon. I am a married mother of 3 grown children. I am going to school online to go back to work part-time.

About Me

I am the oldest of 5 siblings and the only girl. I moved around a lot growing up; Utah, Orange county California, Washington state, and Arizona. My husband and I met In Arizona on a college campus. I was 27 when we married so we started a family right away. We lived in Arizona for 5 years, then Oklahoma for 6 years, then back west to Colorado and have been here 20 years. We live in a small town and have a small college. Our church unit (ward) covers many small towns. Some people come from an hour away. Our children all graduated from high school here; 2 of them with help from home schooling. We have one son, 2 daughters, 1 son-in-law, and 4 grandchildren. We have a backyard vegetable and fruit garden that seems to get bigger each year. I like to socialize with a few friends, otherwise I like to be home. I am taking classes online so I can go back to work from home.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family where 3 of my 4 grandparents are from Mormon pioneer stalk. Many of my ancestors helped settle mid and southern Utah. I have many family stories from their experiences. Their faith and courage is part of why I am still a Mormon. But my testimony of the the Lord's gospel is not just a family tradition. I have experienced many trials that have tested my faith. A few times I have even questioned my beliefs, for a moment. Each time my Savior has been there for me, held me up when I could not stand by myself and walked with me. I have become stronger in my knowledge of His love for me because of these times. I am still a Mormon because of what I have learned and experienced as a Mormon for over 50 years. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gives me purpose to my existence, a smile on my face as I put one foot in front of the other each day, and reasons to aim for meaningful goals.

How I live my faith

I live my faith on a daily basis by reading in my scriptures each day. I aim for 2 to 3 chapters a day. I also have a goal of praying in the morning and in the evening. I also try to keep a prayer in my heart always so I am talking inside of myself to God off and on all day. I attend church services for 3 hours each Sunday. I participate and serve in our church's women's organization. I also participate in genealogy a lot. I enjoy this immensely. It gets almost addicting. I wish I had more time for it. I believe greatly in being kind and try to treat others as the Savior would treat them. I love my family. They are the most important people to me; next to Heavenly Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. I try to spend quality time with my family and I love just talking with them. I help them out whenever I am able. I support our missionaries as much as I can. Having them in your home is a blessing. They bring a wonderful spirit with them. I do my best to follow the Lord's commandments and advice and support His leaders that He has here on earth. I am not perfect but I try to make each new day a little bit better than the day before. I depend upon the Lord to help me in this through His Atonement by my repentence and forgiveness of others.
