Hi I'm Nathan

I am a CPA for a public accounting firm in Denver, CO. I grew up in Houston, TX. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and have two chrildren ages 4 and 2. I work as a CPA in Denver. I love watching and playing all sports, especially basketball and running. I love the outdoors including camping and hiking.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because it is the best tool and resource that brings me closer to my saviour, Jesus Christ. The church and doctrine provide the correct clear and simple path to assist me in my goal to become like and one day live with my heavenly father and his Son, Jesus Christ. I have obtained an eternal perspective that I will be with my wife and family forever, even after this life. This knowledge gives me comfort and joy, especially when life is hard or when I feel like everything is going wrong. I have hope and optimism through the gospel of Jesus Christ. Most importantaly, being a Mormon makes me happy and helps me enjoy life. Living its principles do not contrain or restrict my living but amplify my potential and capabilities.

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon begins in the home with my family. We try to read the Bible and Book of Mormon everyday before bed with our children. I also personally try and read every morning before work. I do this because I like to start my day with my thoughts directed towards Jesus Christ and his example of how to live. Every Monday evening is family night. We teach our children a lesson, sing songs, play games and have a treat. Every Sunday, we attend our local congregation where we partake of the sacrament and rewew our baptismal convenants. We try to observe the Sabbath day by treating the day special and different from the rest of the week. We spend time together as a family by playing games, reading spiritual books, writing in our journal, calling family members that live far away and taking a light walk. To make the day different from the rest of the week, we do not work, attend or play in sporting events or go shopping. We also do not even watch T.V. Imagine a day without T.V.? Is that possible? We participate in local community and church activities. We participate in local and national policitics by being informed on the issues and voting.

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Nathan
Children are a wonderful blessing. “Children are an heritage of the Lord” (Psalms 127:3). Raising a child isn’t easy. In fact, it’s among the most challenging and all-consuming responsibilities we have in life. But good parenting is vital—to society and to the Lord. Both mother and father have a necessary and important role in the lives of their children. Parents’ work in the home will be more effective if their first priorities are God, each other, and their children. A home that is safe, where children can grow mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually, requires faith and the best efforts of the parents working together (see “The Family: A Proclamation to the World”). In such a home, children learn to love and serve each other. They learn to keep the commandments of God and to be good citizens. Such homes bless children and their communities. Show more Show less
