Hi I'm Michelle

I'm a wife. I'm a teacher. I grew up in Northern Virginia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a young, married woman fresh out of college. My husband and I just moved to a new place far away from our families for his job. I received my bachelor's degree in History teaching and substitute taught for a few months while my husband finished school. I really love teaching, and even though I'm not currently working, I still find many opportunities to teach. I love to sing and play the piano both at home and in groups. I was recently asked to start teaching piano lessons, and I'm looking forward to a new challenge and a great chance to keep teaching. I also love reading and discussing books. I love any time I get to spend with my husband and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been a member of this church for my entire life, but I'm not a member just because my parents are. I have come to know for myself the truth of the gospel and that this is the church of Jesus Christ. The Holy Ghost continually witnesses to me of the truth of things and my prayers have been answered. I'm a member because I see the great joy and peace that the gospel brings. When I follow the teachings of the church and Jesus Christ I'm happy and no matter what happens in life, I always know that everything will work out in the end. I continue to learn and grow, and I know I am a better person for belonging to this church. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior who loves everyone and wants us all to return to Him. I know that He will always help us if we will turn to Him. I know that the Atonement is real and will bring us peace and comfort no matter what sin or trial we are trying to overcome. I know that Joseph Smith restored the fullness of the truth to the earth, and that Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet for us today. I also know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that its teachings will help us be more like Christ. These truths constantly give me hope, happiness, and peace in our troubled world.

How I live my faith

I currently teach high school juniors a scripture study class, and this year we are studying the Old Testament. It starts every day at 6:00am before they go to school. It is so inspirational to see these wonderful high school students make the sacrifice to be there and learn about Jesus Christ and his gospel. I also visit several women in my congregation every month to make sure that they are taken care of. I try and be their friend and help them with anything that they might need. I also try and serve whenever anyone is in need. Sometimes that means watching a friend's children or making a meal. There are plenty of opportunities to do good, and I try to take advantage of those.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Michelle
Reading the scriptures is a way for God to speak to us. They are His words, and they will bring us closer to Him. As we really study the scriptures, we can find answers to any questions that we may have. The Holy Ghost will speak to us as we read and help us know what is right and how to live a righteous life. The scriptures bring us peace and hope as we realize that God knows us, loves us, and is always there for us. They help us know that there have been many other people who have overcome great trials and temptations, and that we can too. Show more Show less
