Hi I'm Linsey

I grew up in Hungary and Utah; I'm a physicist; I'm a science teacher; I'm a mom; and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Budapest, Hungary as the only American in my elementary school. I learned Hungarian and loved the people there. I always cheer for the Hungarians as well as Americans during the Olympics. I moved back to the States for middle school and high school. I got a bachelor's degree in Physics at Utah State University, where I met my husband. Now I'm going to graduate school at Purdue University in science teaching. I have one daughter, and we have so much fun together! My hobbies include playing the piano, reading, sewing, astronomy, frisbee golf, and geocaching. One of my favorite pastimes is to get out my telescope on a clear, dark night and invite friends and acquaintances to come with me and look at all the wonders the night sky holds.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but that’s not why I belong to this church. My parents taught me the principles found in the scriptures and in the doctrines of the church, but they never encouraged me to believe just to believe. They encouraged me to study the things on my own and decide if the things they taught sat well with me. They wanted me to ask questions, search for answers, and find out on my own what is true. That’s what I have done. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I have studied and pondered many subjects, prayed to God and felt like I have received answers. I have confidence that I belong to a church that teaches truth. The scripture says that any man can ask of God for any advice, so I have. I’ve asked Him if He really does exist. I’ve asked Him if He loves me. I’ve asked Him if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is His church on earth. In all my asking, I haven’t seen angels, but that doesn’t make my answer any less real. I have felt His influence, and heard His answer. The answer was and is yes. I know it, and I cannot deny it. Every time I start to doubt my experiences, I do the experiment again. I kneel in prayer, and plead with God to give me another witness, and He always comes through, because He promised He would.

How I live my faith

I try to make my faith a part of who I am. One of my favorite teachings of the Church is that we are God's children, and as such we have the potential to become as He is. Because of the sacrifice of my Savior Jesus Christ, I can continue to improve and better myself. I try to remember that each day as I strive to do more good in the world. I try to be conscientious of others and serve and help people as much as I can. I think that's an important step to becoming the best person I can be. I also like to live my faith through music. I enjoy singing in the choir at church, or accompanying them on the piano every once in awhile. I also love playing the piano at home while my family and I sing along (90% of my sheet music is either church or Disney).
