Hi I'm Brett

I live in Colorado. I'm a General Contractor and love building things that will be around longer than my lifetime. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

What can I say?! I love life! I'm 43 years old now and have so much more to accomplish before I go. Growing up in a small town in Idaho as a child, we had to get creative to keep from being bored. With the help of supportive parents and friends, I was able to do many things. I love playing all sports like football, basketball, baseball, wrestling, volleyball, and bike riding. Everyday after school my friends and I would pick a sport and play for hours. If we lost interest, we would build our own stilts and walk around the neighborhood. The stilts would get taller and taller as time went on. My parents stopped us after we had to sit on the roof of the house to put our feet on the blocks and stand up! I love any activity that involves a power boat. Water skiing, wake boarding, surfing, or knee boarding. The faster you go and the harder the tricks, the better. There is a sense of freedom skimming accross the water at 32 mph! My kids have learned to enjoy the same things I do which makes it easy to have a good time. Life is about creating memories and living it to the fullest. It's even better when the whole family is involved! I love to ride my motorcycle in the early morning or late afternoon and feel the wind rush past me. I've almost completed all the items on my first "bucket list" and need to start a new one. Yea!!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know what is being taught is true and comes from our loving Heavenly Father. Everything just makes sense and feels right. As I read my scriptures and understand what the Savior, Jesus Christ established while here on the earth, the spirit confirms to me that this gospel is true. I don't have to take anyone else's word for it because I know I can pray and ask Heavenly Father if this is His church. If it wasn't His church, I would have received that answer, but haven't. That's what is great about being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. As I have visited other faiths and churches throughout the world and have never felt the spirit as strong as I do when I attend church in this religion. I know that I have a Father in Heaven that knows me and loves me and wouldn't lead me astray. I'm a father and know that I would never lead my children astray either. I love my children and never enjoy watching them struggle or be harmed in any manner. If I love my children and want the best for them, why wouldn't our Heavenly Father want the same for us? What other religion out in this world believes these things? I'm a son of God and I know he loves me just as much as He loves you!

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday in all that I do. I am honest in my dealings of men and seek for the good of others. I work an average of 60 hours a week in construction and also donate at least 20 hours a week to my church calling. I am a bishop over our congregation/ward of 300+ members. We do not have a paid ministry in this church, so all my time is donated for the love of serving others. I have the opportunity to strengthen marriages and families through counseling on a weekly basis. I get to hang out with the youth of the ward every week and have fun activities with them. I also get to work on scouting activities with the boys every week. There is no greater joy than seeing a young man accomplish the rank of Eagle Scout. I am able to help these young men and women discover who they are and what talents are hidden inside them. It is neat to see them excel in new things which leads to greater things. I am training them to be active in their society and be a proactive citizen for what is right.
