Hi I'm Nanette

I cherish motherhood. I'm a student in Special Education, love photography, and find joy in serving others. I love being a Mormon!

About Me

I am a single mother of four, two are my own and two boys were added to our family when their parents died at age 10. Both boys are now serving enthusiastically as missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I love spending time with my family, enjoy playing card games, going to the temple, photography, creating jewlery, and making people smile. Sercetly servicing and giving to others is my joy, that, and chocolate. I am a student pursuing a degree in Special Education, and hope to make a difference in the lives of many children who fall through the cracks in the social and educational realm. Most importantly, to give a child hope, confidence, and independence to succeed in anything they put their minds to; and plant within them a desire to achieve their greatest potential. I myself have a learning disability; along with two of my children, a brother, and a father - all of us having ADHD.

Why I am a Mormon

I've been an active member of the mormon church all my life, however, I wasn't truly converted (as you would say) to the church and it's teachings and purposes until later in my teenage years. In those years, through the challenges of life; I turned to the Lord in prayer for guidance, help, and comfort. Each time guidance, help, or comfort came it built and strentghen my testimony that our Heavenly Father is real. He hears and answers our sincere prayers and he watches over us and loves us. I also came to understand, that by following the example and teachings of his son Jesus Christ it brings joy to my life, happiness into my home, helps me overcome hardships, gives me needed perspective in learning from my experiences, and gives me the comfort and strength I need when I am weak. I enjoy studying the Book of Mormon everyday and know it is the word of God. It testifies of Jesus Chris, his true church, and his teachings. I and my children become closer to our Heavenly Father and to each other when we read it together. We are all sons and daugthers of a loving Heavenly Father. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His true church and by living it's teachings and principles, we have the opportunity to live with Him and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ again. I know that through Jesus Christ we can do all things and through the Holy Ghost (who testifies of truth) we can know all things for ourselves. And that if we do our best and fall, we can try and try and try again and he will be there to dust us off each time and help us move forward. I love my Savior, I believe in His teachings, I know that he gave us a living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, today - as in days of old - to guide us. I love Jesus Christ's church. I love being a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I strive everyday to live what I believe. I look for opportunities to serve others: visiting those who are lonely, struggling, widows... Smiling becomes contagious, and for some people that is all that is needed to brighten their day. Working with the youth (teenagers) is one of my most favorite enjoyments. I've done everything from community service projects, such as "Help for Homes" and community clean-up - to volunteering in Health Fairs, and gathering supplies & food for the needy. Teaching children to set goals and how to achieve them, whether being a den leader in Cub Scouts or in a religious classroom setting has brought both tears to my eyes and happiness to my heart. Dedicating myself to being a mom, I've been a volunteer in each of my children's schools. Working in Public Affairs for the mormon church, I have had the wonderful opportunity to honor teachers and educators, bring the joy and gifts of Christmas to those forgotten Grandmothers & Grandfathers in many nursing homes, assisted in uniting neighbors and those of other faiths, and taught emergency prepareness and awareness to individuals and communities. I am a member of one the largest woman's organizations in the world; bringing a helping hand, emotional support, education, skills, food, clothing, self reliance, and other necessities of life...to women and families within my our surroundings and throughout the world. I learn so much from everything I am involved in esspecially from individuals young and old, and I love every minute.
