Hi I'm Kim

I'm a Mormon. I recently retired from a 32 year career in telecommunications and I'm loving every minute of it.

About Me

I hadn't planned on a career when I began working for the local telephone company, but as much as I would have preferred to be a stay-at-home mom, it was necessary. Working for so long turned out to be a great thing because of the wonderful people I met over the years. Now I'm doing all the things I had dreamed of doing, but never had time for. I love to sew, garden, read, and spend time helping people - there's so much more satisfaction in that.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in an active, Mormon family and always belived the teachings of the church, but at around 30 years of age I stopped going. After about 10 years of doing 'my own thing' I started to feel that my life was lacking any real meaning. Although nothing was going wrong in my life I began to feel that if there wasn't some greater purpose for me I just couldn't see the point. I tried a few different churches, but didn't feel they had what I was looking for. I decided to quit looking, and just read the scriptures. I began with the New Testiment. As I read, I realized that it contained all the principles I had been taught as a child. I was reluctant to return to the LDS church, but from the day that I did, I knew for certain that it was where I needed to be. I love how the Book of Mormon verifies Old and New Testament truths, and gives additional understanding. I went from feeling empty and insignificant to knowing that my Father in Heaven loves me and is very aware of me. No one is insignificant - there is a design for all of us, and each of us has a purpose here on earth that no one else can perform as well as we can.

How I live my faith

Over the last 10 years I taught Sunday School for children from 3 years old to adults, worked with teen-aged young women, and currently work in the Women's organization in our church. All of these have been challenging, but great experiences for me. I love being able to serve others and I know that I am able to make a difference in peoples' lives.
