Hi I'm Gregory

I love Jazz. I'm a certified Personal Trainer and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I have lots of passions in life and music is on of those passions that has always seemed to have been there. My earliest musical memories tie back to hearing my brothers play John Schmidt on the piano. I followed their example and have developed that talent myself. although I did quit, not just once but twice, I came back to it and now enjoy playing it today. Also, I've learned to play the saxophone and have played in bands ever since my seventh grade year. I particularly enjoy playing jazz and was a member of my University's jazz band before my mission. My 9th grade year was a time of many beginnings. Not only was it the first year I played jazz, but it was also the first year of my swim team experience. At first It was hard, I would spend hours a day in the physically exhausting practices, but i did get used to it; I actually learned to love it. A few years into it I actually ended up leading the team, as captain, in the portion of those workouts involving dry-land conditioning. As a result from that responsibility, I've developed a deep interest in physical health and fitness. Which interest has lead to a certification as a personal trainer and the study of exercise science as my chosen major in college. On top of those two passions I also love the outdoors, nature, and anything that's adventurous. Two strange desires that I have related to this are survival skills and bow-making. Above all I'm grateful for who I am and what I've been blessed with.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this Church and have experienced the blessings from it all my life. I grew up in a large and loving family. I was home schooled for many years along with my siblings. Our family was an environment where Christ's principles were taught and lived. As a result of that, we we're able to have strong relationships with each other and have experienced the joys that result from them. We are not just members of some social unit. We are friends, brothers and sisters, joyfully sealed together for time and all eternity. I have had to come to gain my own testimony for my self, although, I've always believed it to be true. There never was that one moment that made me believe. Rather, it was, and still is, the culmination of many small moments. The Holy Ghost influences us each differently. It doesn't matter how grand or how small. whether it be a vision as with Paul, or a little feeling of assurance. What matters is whether you distinguish it as the spirit. There have been people who have seen angels, but are yet faithless. I would rather be the one who is blessed; having not yet seen, but still believing. I know that this is the one and only true church. Restored doctrine God has revealed to us is only found here and It's that restored truth that has assured my belief in God. Because there is a God, this is His Church. He will only signify one course. That’s why this is so vital. There is only one faith, one Lord, one baptism. Confusion would only abound otherwise and He would not do that. I know this is true, because I can’t believe that there isn’t a God. To accept such, would sink me down into the dark despair of determinism. There is a God! I have felt Him in my life. That's all the proof I need: the sense of my being, the faculty of my spirit. And this is God’s spirit bearing record to mine.

How I live my faith

Ever since childhood I've been living this gospel. It's a way of life. It started with my family. I remember getting up early every day for prayer and scripture study and when the weekend came we would never miss a Sunday at church. as I've gotten older I've had to support my own testimony through personal study of the scriptures, deep pondering of eternal truths, and sincere prayer to my Heavenly Father. Also in latter years, I have taken religious classes in both high school and college. I strive to follow the things I've learned. The teachings of our Savior, Jesus Christ, are meant to be lived not just known. I'm far from perfect; I know this. but I'm willing to work on getting better day by day. I'm willing to accept any call the Lord gives me, that's why I'm currently serving a mission for this Church in South Carolina. As a missionary I'm acting as a representative of Christ, sharing His gospel with all those who will listen.
