Hi I'm David

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in the foothills of the Cascades. As time permits I enjoy hiking and fishing the streams and upland lakes. It doesn't matter if I catch anything or even get a bite. The reward is the overwhelming beauty of nature and the benefits of doing something healthy. I am married to the most amazing woman and have four children and four grandchildren. The best part of being a grandfather is you get to go through your childhood for the third time... I enjoy service of all types. Helping someone on a personal level or many on a grand scale is equal to me. Helping others gets the focus off of myself. I am blessed to know that life is larger than me.

Why I am a Mormon

When the missionaries called on me I was prepared. I was searching and praying for truth when my cousin showed up and talked about the stick of Judah and the stick of Ephraim. He shared the Joseph Smith story and contacted the missionaries. I went through the lessons quickly and set a date for my baptism but struggled with my tobacco addiction. I shared this dilemma with the missionaries and they arranged for two of the seventies to give me a priesthood blessing. I fasted and prayed to prepare myself for the blessing. Immediately upon receiving the blessing my physical and psychological addiction was gone. There was no doubt that I was entering into the waters of baptism. The Church completes my family and that is the reason why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

By always striving to do what I know is right. It doesn't matter what others may think or what my personal comfort level is. My understanding or lack thereof. Like I said earlier, it is not about me. When the spirit speaks, I do my best to listen. It is not always a still small voice. Sometimes it is loud and resounding. What I receive in return is peace and joy. I am grateful for that.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

There is organization in all things that endure. Chaos can not ever be fruitful, however it can help to achieve balance. The trials that all go through serve to strengthen and align our paths both spiritually and temporally. What at first looks like random incidents soon display organized patterns of reason, leaving no doubt as to the why of it. Everything happens for a reason. We may not at first understand, but through endurance we become infinitely stronger and find peace. It defines who we are. When I think of my experiences on this journey called life and glean from my treasure of memories, I have no doubt that there is a God. I am indeed blessed to know that he loves me enough to plan for all I need to be fruitful and productive. Show more Show less
