Hi I'm Joan

"I grew up in Canada. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married for 30 years and we have 5 children. I love shopping with my grown daughters, spending time with my family, making jam from our plum and cherry trees, and running in 5k and 10k events. I've been fortunate enough to visit Denmark and Japan. With family members spread out in Alberta (Canada), the Midwest, and the Mountain West, we make regular trips. I love seeing our national parks and the beautiful outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the simple but powerful teachings of the church. I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father and He loves me and wants me to be happy. I understand that Jesus Christ is our savior and that we can follow his example. The teachings of the church guide me in daily choices and important decisions that give me peace and satisfaction in life. Important questions in life are answered for me. I know the purpose of life, where we came from, and where we go after this life. I see my relationship with Heavenly Father and our Savior. When the noise of life is everywhere, I can still see the important things and put it all into a peaceful perspective.

How I live my faith

I look forward to our family prayers every evening. It makes a difference and I can see where we have been cared for and blessed by our Heavenly Father. On Sundays I take care of administrative and organizational details of the church women's organization. It helps the women's leaders be effective in planning fun activities and leading meaningful meetings and lessons. All our women members need to be nurtured and cared for. They need to know they are important and loved. I also individually visit two women every month. We develop friendships and talk one-to-one. It's great to talk and share perspectives and grow together.
