Hi I'm Andrew

I'm a Colorado native, love the outdoors, technology, family and I'm a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

About Me

I was born and raised in Colorado and I love it here. I love the outdoors and Colorado is such a wonderful place to be outside. I'm a Software Engineer by day and a family man by night. I'm also an avid amateur photographer and love to get out and shoot the beautiful scenery here in Colorado and anywhere I get to travel. I love hanging out with my family and friends and like doing things like hiking, biking, inline skating, snowboarding, and snowshoeing.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Christian family, but didn't go to church very often. As a teenager, I decided that I didn't want to go to church because I didn't get anything out of it. I have always believed in God, but I didn't go to church except for Christmas and Easter pretty much all the way though college. In college, I met a girl who was mormon and she introduced me to the church. I knew a few mormon kids in high school, but never knew anything about it. I started taking talking to the missionaries on and off though college and even went to church a few times with my girlfriend. I struggled with the church and my scientific background and had many discussions with the Elders about these topics. After college, I asked this same girl to marry me and we started our life together in a new city. I started taking the missionary discussion again and had a new outlook on it all. I was starting a new phase in my life; starting a family of my own with a woman I loved very much. The missionaries then taught me about our Father in Heavens plan and how it is possible for me and my family to be together forever, not just till death us do part. This is something I have always believed to be true, but none of the churches I have ever been to have believed this principle. I learned more about the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and decided that I wanted to be baptized and become a member of this true Church of Jesus Christ so that I could enjoy the blessings of the gospel. I am so happy I made this decision and can enjoy the blessing with my wife and children. I love the things we can learn from the gospel and for the things it teaches me and my family. I also love belonging to a small ward family where I'm able to know many others who share our families beliefs and moral standards.

How I live my faith

In my church, I have had a few different responsibilities. After I was baptized, my wife and I were able to teach others who were also investigating the Church and also teach new members more about the gospel. We moved a few years after I was baptized, so we were in a new Ward where we go new responsibilities. I was in charge of helping our Ward to be prepared in case of an emergency. With the leaders in our ward, we planned for disasters that could affect our area. We also helped teach others about how to prepare their families in case of an emergency as well. Later, I also helped plan and prepare our Wards Sunday School hours. We helped teachers prepare for lessons, and helped members to learn and prepare themselves to learn about the gospel. I am currently a member of our Wards leadership and help in planning meetings, plan and counsel with the other leaders of our Ward to help the members of our Ward grow closer to Jesus Christ and also help ensure their needs are being met. I also help schedule appointments with our Wards Bishop, schedule activities and coordinate with other Wards in using our building effectively. Not all of these things happen on Sunday. Serving in our Church often happens throughout the week and I enjoy serving others in our Ward. I try to live the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ every day in my life. I try to be nice to others, help others with what I can, and try to make good choices in my own life that will help my family to be happy.
