Hi I'm Bret

I am a husband, father, professor, investor, and entrepreneur. I have lived all around the USA and in Russia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The center of my life is my religion and my family. They go hand in hand with one another. My wife and I met in college and have been best friends ever since. We have four children who are our greatest joy and challenge. We enjoy spending time together as a family playing outside, geocaching, attending sports events (usually our childrens'), and going to museums. For my profession, I am a university professor. I research and teach about entrepreneurship. I also oversee investing in local startups and even start my own companies. I love helping others create new organizations and bring them to life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the joy, happiness and truth that it brings into my life. My parents joined the church when I was three years old. As a result, I had the privilege of learning the Gospel principles from an early age. Around the age of 15, I set out to discover the truths the Gospel offers for myself. After searching, pondering, and trying to live the principles taught by the prophets of this Church, I gained a deep conviction of the happiness and joy that comes by making and keeping personal commitments to our Heavenly Father. I want nothing more than to see my children, friends and others have the same opportunity.

How I live my faith

I have had great opportunity to serve and live my faith in this Church. In the past, I have helped strengthen and grow various organizations within the Church's local structure. Currently, I work with the young men in our city and have learned so much as a result. Being a teenager was a challenge when I was young and it seems to be a challenge today as well. I enjoy talking to and helping these young men prepare to face these challenges. I also enjoy having a lot of fun being a kid again with them. The Church provides a wonderful opportunity to be part of a local community of Christians who care about one another as well as the neighbors that surround them.
