Hi I'm Heidi

I'm a wife and mother. I like to bake, sew, and be outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of five children, my Dad went back to school when I started junior high and we moved around a lot. I meet my husband in high school and we became friends; best friends. We got married in college and we have four beautiful children. I know they are a gift from my Heavenly Father and I thank Him every day for them! I like to bake and "experiment" on my family often. I learned to sew when I was a teenager and I still enjoy making things for my family and friends. We live in a beautiful part of the world and I enjoy being out in nature as much as possible. I feel so blessed to have all I have been given and I know that it is all a gift from God!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised Mormon by wonderful parents who taught me what was right and what was wrong. But there came a time when I began to question what they had taught me. Was it true? Did I believe what they had told me? I had to find if I believed it. My first experience in knowing that God is real and that He knows me was when I was in high school. I was laying in bed one night after everyone else had gone to bed thinking about life and death. I knew I was alive and that everyone dies someday, so I would die and I started to become scared. I wanted to go to my parents for comfort but thought that was silly. So, I lay there becoming more and more scared about death and the end and a dark feeling came over me. So, I started to pray and almost instantly a comforting feeling washed all over me; it felt like I was on fire and the thought came to me "you don't have to worry, I am here, you will live with me again". I knew Heavenly Father had heard my prayer and had sent the Holy Ghost to comfort me and reassure me. Since that experience I have had many experiences where I have seen the hand of God in my life and felt His love. I have learned that the Lord is the same today as He was in times of old. He loves us all. Because He loves us He sent His son, Jesus Christ to live for us and to die for us. I know Jesus died but He rose again and He lives! I am awaiting for the day when He will come again! I have been blessed with faith to know that things that I can't see, touch or maybe even understand are true. I have learned that sometimes I just "feel" that it is right. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me, He knows me, He wants me to come home! I feel that in ever fiber of my being. I can't explain how I came about that knowledge. I just know!

How I live my faith

I try to live each day like my Savior lived and as my Heavenly Father would want me to. I try to show love to those around me and tell them they are loved by a Father in Heaven. I try to serve those in my family, community, and church. I have had the opportunity to work with the youth and women at my church and have loved each and every one of them. I currently try to help the women in my church group reach out and visit the other women in our group. In our women's group we are asked to reach out and teach, uplift and serve each other. I love the opportunity to serve, because I believe what the Savior said, "when you have done it until the least of these my brethren you have done it unto me".

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

I see the beauty of a sunset, the majesty of the mountains, the quite sound of trees rustling in the wind and I know it can't all be by chance. There is a greater power at work. I feel my Heavenly Father all around me in nature and it takes my breathe away. When my first child was born and I got to participate in the miracle of her birth I saw a glimpse of the power and love my Heavenly Father. I witnessed the beauty and perfection of a new little person that I was able to help create. It was a humbling experience. Growing up a lot was always expected of me. Sometimes I didn't think it was "fair" or that my parents were being too hard on me. My dad went back to school when I started Junior high and my mom had to start working outside the home. Junior high was a hard time for me, I didn't fit in well with my peers and I had to take care of my siblings and things at home because both my parents were working or going to school. We moved again when I started high school and it was then that I started to turn to my Heavenly Father to comfort me and guide me in a new place. He did comfort me! My Heavenly Father was always there to guide me and comfort me, even when I didn't know He was there. I have come to realized the great planning and care our Heavenly Father put into creating this world and our bodies for us. But that is not all. He is still there for us, trying to talk to us, lead us and guide us back home to Him. It is wonderful! Show more Show less
