Hi I'm Bryan

I am an orthodontist and love making people smile. I am a proud father of 3 hilarious kids. I am a convert to the Mormon church.

About Me

I grew up on the coast of Southern California, and now I call the Rocky Mountains my home. I absolutely love it here, although I do miss the beach, palm trees, 75 degree weather every day, and In-N-Out. My wife and I met at BYU where we both graduated college. We then moved to California where I attended dental school at UCLA, then to Portland, OR where I did my orthodontic residency at OHSU, and I now practice in the Denver area. We have 2 girls and 1 boy that make us laugh every day. My wife and I believe we might be the only couple in the history of the world to each have won a bedroom set on the Price Is Right!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up outside the Mormon faith. A couple missionaries knocked on my door when I was 16 and my mom was interested in hearing their message. In my teenage mind, I wasn't interested in religion and didn't want to join the Mormon church, although my mom, brother, and sisters did. The missionaries encouraged me to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it so I could know for myself that it was a true book of scripture like the Bible, that God really does call prophets on earth in these days, and that this church contained the gospel of Jesus Christ in its fullness. I was reluctant at first, but after attending church meetings and activities I was really impressed with how wonderful the people were and how friendly and welcoming they were toward me. I decided to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. It took months, but my prayers began to be more sincere and heart-felt--I eventually truly wanted to know if these things were true. One evening while praying I felt an overwhelming peace and confidence overtake me that I knew was the Holy Ghost telling me that this was Christ's restored church on earth today. I made the decision to be baptized and consider it the best decision I've ever made. Every blessing I've received and every good thing that has happened to me I can trace to that decision to follow Christ and live His gospel. I couldn't be happier to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

My family and I attend church meetings every Sunday. My whole family meets with the entire congretation to participate in the Sacrament, sing hymns, and hear talks about various gospel subjects. We then take our kids to nursery and primary classes where they are with kids their age and learn gospel principles at a level they can understand. While they are there, my wife and I attend a Sunday School class where we meet as a small group and discuss various parts of the gospel with one another. After that class, I join with the other men in one class and my wife joins with the other women in another class. There I learn how to be a better father/husband/son and how that relates to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Outside of church meetings, my family sets aside one night a week where we talk about the gospel, teach lessons, eat treats, and play games. We pray together as a family morning and night, read the scriptures together every night, and do our best to be good people and involved in the community. All members of the church have specific responsibilities, and mine center around doing missionary work. I spend time with our missionaries to discuss how we as church members can help them find people who might be interested in learning about our beliefs. There is nothing more rewarding than sharing my beliefs with others and helping them find the same happiness that I have found in this church.
