Hi I'm Jamie

I am a mother of five girls. I enjoy gardening, photography, and cooking. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I met my husband while working on my bachelor's degree in Psychology. I have had a little experience in human resources. I have worked as a photographer. But where I have felt most fulfilled is in my family. We have five young children - all girls, and I have spent the last couple of years devoting most of my time to them. We have do house projects, we paint and color and draw, we spend time in the garden, we enjoy evening walks, and we try to serve our neighbors. We have our share of challenges as we raise these little women. And I am happy.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church a couple of years before I was born. At the time their marriage was rocky. Their conversion changed the course of our family's life. They had an understanding of God’s plan and the path he wanted for our family. I grew up reading Book of Mormon and Bible stories and singing Primary songs. I had encouragement to learn and seek for myself what truth is. My parents taught me to pray, to rely on the Lord, to seek His guidance, and to express gratitude for all things that come from Him. Ultimately the reason why I am Mormon is because when I live the teachings of the Lord I experience happiness peace.

How I live my faith

I live my faith as I strengthen my relationship with Jesus Christ. I live my faith as I learn to rely upon his goodness and to trust that he will guide and direct my life. I try to live according to his teachings, and I pray for his forgiveness as I am weak. I have experienced his love. He has the power to make us better and more capable than we otherwise would be, and I have seen that in my life. Service is another way I live my faith. Recently I helped organize the women’s organization with a clothing and gear drive for homeless in our region. Women and their families collected and washed clothing and gear. We were pleased to fill hundreds of boxes on the sorting night. With their families the primary children collected hygiene items from hotels, which were assembled into kits for the homeless. It was neat to see so many people - young and old - working together for the relief of those in need.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a compilation of writings from ancient prophets. It begins around 600 B.C. with the prophet, Lehi, and his family leaving Jerusalem and being led by God to a new land, somewhere on the American continent. Nephi, Jacob, Alma, Mosiah and Mormon – they were just a handful of the Book of Mormon prophets who kept a record of the people, and their interactions with God. They knew about the prophecies that Christ would come, and taught the people to have faith and to keep His commandments. One of my favorite parts of the Book of Mormon is when the resurrected Savior appeared to a multitude of people. He organized a church among them, performed miracles, blessed them, and taught them the same truths he had been teaching in Jerusalem. I have read the Book of Mormon many times through and continue to study the stories and doctrine. It supports the teachings of the Bible and confirms my testimony that God loves us and desires us to know Him and exercise faith in Him. Show more Show less
